Quote# 54566

Recently my sister-in-law committed suicide, and I attended the funeral with my wife and five children. At the funeral there was much talk of how the aforementioned sister-in-law is in a better place, which as I Christian I know not to be true. Suicide is an act against God that is punished with burning hellfire for all eternity. I don't want my kids to get the idea that my sister-in-law is in a better place, because that would be lying to them about the intentions of God and His punishments. My wife has been unreceptive to my wishes to tell my children of this, so how can I convince her that I'm right. If I can't, I'll tell the kids anyway, if this is the case, how do I tell them?

Why do I have the M*A*S*H* theme song running through my head?

"My wife has been unreceptive to my wishes to tell my children of this"

What a surprise? I mean if someone close to me died the first thing I want to hear is that they were set to be tortured by demons and burn for all eternity.

How about this. I know the idea of compassion will be foreign to you, but this might work, and keep the family in tact at the same time. Just leave it alone. Don't say anything, and let your family mourn in peace. Keep your beliefs to yourself. I know you're a jackass who doesn't care about other people, but this would be the best way for all. No one is infringing on your beliefs by them saying she's in a better place. And you're not huting your family by having such a mean and cruel spirit. How's that?

If this is real, I hope the wife runs off with the kids.

I don't recall the Bible ever espousing a position with regard to suicide. The idea that suicide is a sin has its origins in church tradition, not the Scriptures.

My wife has been unreceptive to my wishes to tell my children of this, so how can I convince her that I'm right.

You should try punching her. Uppity b****es need to be kept in their place.

I hope like hell you are a Poe, because if not, you are a sick fuck for wanting scare your own kids like that. Bad enough they lost their aunt, but you want to compound it with your beliefs.

I smell Poe because of the name... BUT, if this is true, if I were your wife, I'd kick you in the balls, then leave you, you heartless bastard. You are seriously deluded if you believe that shit.

I would use examples.

"Now kids this is what caused Antie to go to Hell"
*points gun at head*

I don't know anything about this apart from what this horrible man has written, but perhaps a good way to discuss this awful event is by talking about how people can be very sick with a mental illness such as depression as well as with a physical illness like chicken pox; and that the children's auntie really wasn't very well at all and because of the way she was sick she couldn't get the help she needed.
I really hope this is a poe - otherwise this man should win the compassion-free christian award of 2008. He's already told his wife that her sister is burning in hell.

It's always pathetically revealing when they do this. If you need to ask this question, you can't possibly have any grounds whatsoever to believe that you're right in the first place, otherwise you'd know the fucking arguments yourself.

That's the problem, because you are wrong.

Just whack them really hard in the solar plexus with a gigantic Jesus-bearing plank and tell them

"Your aunt, who was so troubled by her life situation that the only way she could escape from the pain was to end her life, is having her flesh ripped off again & again forever & ever & ever in the most horrible place imaginable"

I'm sure they'll understand...

Fucking cunt

9 out of 10 dentists agree - this guy is creepy as hell! What a weird obsession and way to look at justice, the way a 9 year old might. Some people never grow up I guess. I wonder if he argues with his wife for 'siding' with their 5 year old at times.

Jezebel's Evil Sister

Just explain that the god you worship is an evil, sadistic jerk who has no understanding or compassion toward humans and gleefully sends people who suffered from mental illness to eternal torture ... but he LOVES us.

I think he should not only tell them about their aunt burning in eternal hell-fire, but that they too will likely end up there, particularly if they even touch themselves "down there."

(There must be some sort of psychopathology that makes people want to believe in hell. If you read the fundies, many of them positively relish the thought of the suffering of the damned. At the very least, people who believe in hell must have other, really twisted, beliefs. If anyone knows of any reputable research in the area, it'll save me a lot of googling. )
