Question: 'What makes you think there is only one religion that is right?
Answer:
I believe that when considering the entire bible you get the sense that God wants to be worshipped in a proper and semi-specific manner. For example when his only people were the Israelites he gave them over 600 different laws to live by. They had to give different kinds of sacrifices (animal, wave offerings, smoke offerings, etc.) All of the things that they did back then were very specific.
Jehovah showed then how he felt about false worship. When they worshipped him purely they had his favor, but when they mixed in with his worship the customs of other pagan nations (high places, baal worship, etc.) even if it was a small thing, they would not have his favor. Research this please because it is extremely important.
God has standards that are set out from examples in the bible of how he should be worshipped. We as JW try our best to not mix in pagan teachings with our worship of Jehovah just as he gave us these examples in his word.
So when I say to reasearch something, research things that have originated with pagan beliefs (christmas, easter, halloween). Don't take this the wrong way either because I don't want to come off like I think that I'm better that anyone at all. I really do want you to research some things. If it turns out that these things ARE pagan, then God definately would not want us to do them even if it is in the name of religion.
I guess if we wanted to find a true religion, eliminating any paganistic practices would be a good starting place :)

Short answer: "The Bible's right because the Bible says it's right!"
Long answer: "God wanted us to worship him in specific ways. But he doesn't want us to use rituals. So we have to stick to the rituals he told us to. And if we use a new one, that's EVIL! I think I'm right because I'm narrow-minded and ethnocentric :)"

A nice apologetic for the JW's. He's off his rocker, of course, except about christmas and easter originating in paganism. However, he doesn't seem to answer the question at all. So, how do you know that there is only one right religion?

Your religion was based upon Paganistic beliefs to begin with....so... ipso facto you're asking for your religious practices to be eliminated? Um OKAY!

This has to be one of the most annoying arguments ever. I dont know what kind of brainwashing it takes to make people think "My god is the only real god because he's the only one who's just like my god!" is a remotely logical argument but it should be illegal.

Yes, that's all well and good, but what makes you think there is only one religion that is right?

Question: Yeah, but what makes you think the Bible is right?
Answer: It's in the Bible!
Question: But doesn't the Quran say it's right, too?
Answer: You're a stupid dooty-head Muslim terrorist!

Sorry, but the only true religion is that of Ub-mekkle, who was only worshipped by the Mekkle tribe until they were wiped out by a rather hungry tiger.

Every point the you brought up can be applied to hundreds if not thousands of other religions, many of which predate Judaism or Christianity, much less Jehovah's Witless.

So, have you been following the Bible's rules? When was your last wave offering? Have you killed everyone who tried to change your religion?
You know, pagans are often contributing members of society, good parents and kind to small animals. Be sure not to adopt any of those horrific pagan practices.

You're not going to have much of a religion if you eliminate all those pagan influences.

So, your trump card is "Because The Bible said so" plus a couple of paragraphs of non-sequitur about how many things The Bible says God told the ancient Israelites they shalt and shalt not do?
You're going to have to do better than that.

So how are those savory, burnt offerings working for you? (Hambergers on a grill do not count.)

It's funny, because, if memory serves, the commandment is "Thou shalt hold no other gods before me", not "There are no other gods, but me."
So...yeah. Seems ol' genocidal deity there thinks there may be gods other than him.

Hm. So. Planning on following those old ways of worship, like the burnt offerings? I thought not. You're burning in hell, lolz.

TECHNICALLY if it's in the Bible, shouldn't Christians still be offering sacrifices TODAY?
