[Obama selected as TIME Magazine's Person of the Year]
Man of the year. Can someone please remind me what exactly he's done? On 2nd hand please don't, I don't want a reminder that a pro partial birth abortion far left-wing extremist is about to assume the highest post in our country.

Oh, you mean as opposed to a war profiteer that went stomping though the middle east, on information that was at best wrong, and at worst, bald faced lies?
It's better than that dumb mirror schtick they did last year. Seriously, there is no news year so slow that you have to suck your readers' dicks and proclaim the people in general as person of the year, I don't care how many blogs they wrote.
"first ever non white to run for the US presidency"
... is probably Jesse Jackson, or somebody before him. Obama is, however, the first non-white put forward by a major political party.
@Sylvana
Well, he's the first ever non-white to get elected to the US Presidency and the first non-white to be nominated by one of the two major parties, but he is not the first non-white to RUN for the presidency. Jesse Jackson and Alan Keyes come to mind.
From the same thread...you can't cure stupid..
"This country's king use to be Jesus Christ Himself.when it was established"
I'm not aware George III was ever know by the title of Christ!
Can someone please remind me what exactly he's done?
While pretty much everyone else has already mentioned this, I feel that this level of stupidity just needs to be rubbed in the speaker's face as much as possible.
Barak Hussein Obama was the first non-white to ever successfully run for President in the United States of America. This makes him incredibly newsworthy. Guess what, if Hillary had been nominated, and won, she likely would be in Time instead. John McCain? Not so much.

Where I live, we have these things called newspapers.

Don't worry. No far left-wing extremist is about to do any such thing. If anything, Obama is too conservative for my liking.
FSTDT commenters who got here before me: "first ever non white to run for the US presidency"
"... is probably Jesse Jackson, or somebody before him. Obama is, however, the first non-white put forward by a major political party."
The correct answer is: Shirley Chisholm. Democrat. 1972. Obviously, she didn't win the nomination, but she did get a lot of headlines during the primaries that year. Look it up.
Youngsters. What do they know. ;-)

...What the hell happened to Obama?
Also, #872961;
No, I think that was George IV. The mad one.
Obama isn't "far left wing", really. He's a bit too pro-government-intervention in the economy for me, but he's definitely the far better choice.
Also: the president has NO power over abortion. Overturning Roe vs Wade would take a Constitutional amendment or a new Supreme Court ruling.
He's a man of mixed-race who became President-elect of the USA.
Yeah, that's why he's the Man of the Year.
You Sir are justification for partial abortion.
And make up your mind will you? You want to know or don't you?
I guess you just wanted a chance to whine.
Maybe it's because I'm Canadian and we're all Godless socialists up here, but how, exactly, is Obama a far-left extremist? He's always struck me as being barely left of the centre...
@Mrs Antichrist: As others have said, to the centrist standpoint, he is only slightly left of center. When you consider how far to the right the people at Rapture Ready are, however, compared to them, he is far left.
im closer to a right wing extremist than Obama is a left wing extremist...and im a pro-choice, pro-secular, feminist lesbian who disagrees with the war on terror.
edit: @NonProphet
Agreed. Obama is quite conservative by European standards, so if that is extreme liberal to the fundtards.....it scares me.
@ NonProphet
If Obama is a far-left extremist to these people, then I shudder to think what a far-right extremist is. Or do they not believe those exist?
I think most of them are to the right of Attila.
They think Adolf was a lefty atheist, who didn't push the ultimate solution far enough.
Obama is center-right. He has tried to clean up after the incompetent dolt who had the job for eight years before him. It will probably take another two or three presidential periods to get the country back on track again.
That partial-birth abortion you right-wing extremists keep talking about, that seems to be something only you experience, strangely enough...
Confused?
