The sinful nature of their hearts masks the rationale that the bible is true and God is real and that what we Christians tell them is ther truth. So they fall into this, "I'm not going to believe in all that stuff, a talking donkey and global flood and all that crap!" because the astounding and bizarre nature of the truth gives them an excuse to point to as reason not to believe, an excuse to bandage their concience with.
And God said He would send strong delusion to seperate the willing from the unwilling. A talking donkey fits that bill beautifully.

So, you admit that the talking donkey bit is strong delusion? And that you therefore you believe what you recognise to be a delusion because you are willing? Isn't that a sign of madness?
Well, the whole bible is choke full of crap and impossible events, sadism, racism, xenophobia, giving random crazy explanations for perfectly natural and easily explained (today) natural events and attribute those events to gods.
Any person who take the content of the bible for real history, is mentally disturbed if they do not change their opinion after having been presented with facts supporting the claim that the content of the bible is false and impossible.
So, yes, the bible is nothing but a collection of 2000+ year old goat herder and camel driver scifi and should be treated accordingly!
So... God intentionally made the events depicted in the Bible so ridiculously ludicrous so that he could see which people would be faithful (ie. gullible) enough to believe it.
Why does God hate reasonable people? I mean really. Heaven must be full of dumbshits.
Kampar: And then the talking donkey went on to make a bloody fortune in Shrek 1, 2 & 3 ...
Famous - yes, but did he get any ass ?
So your Gopd is openly playing mind games to test the faithful?
Oh wait, you just say that so your fragile world view doesn't fall apart when you can not produce the burden of proof.

Because this is so much more believable than flying pasta.
So the Bible was the original piece of shock literature?
Thanks, but I'll stick with Chuck Palahniuk, at least he can make plots that make sense.
You know what I find "astounding and bizarre"? The fact that every living thing on this planet, everything from the tiniest bacterium to the most gigantic sequoia and all those in-between, has an unbroken lineage that reaches back almost 4 billion years. I find that mind-blowingly wonderful, astonishing and ever beguiling. Every direct ancestor of every living thing survived to reproduce, to pass on it's unique genetic code (random mutations and all!) to the next generation in an unbroken line that spans nearly 4 million millennia.
Think of that, then think of your book and know what petty insignificance truly is.
So God is tricking people, and those that fall for it are the True Believers?
It makes sense in a way. It's easier to control dumbasses. That's why all villains have stupid sidekicks.
Love it when they out argue their own position.
Fundies, listen up. A delusion is a unreal event. Not an unreal event that happened, but something that's unreal because it never happened. The Jews know this, it's parable, a moral tale construct, not real.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
