Quote# 55290

I believed that evolution and the account of the Bible about creation could exist along side of each other very well. I just didn't see what the big argument was all about. I had some friends who had been studying the Bible much longer than I had who saw it differently...Eventually, I came to the conclusion, through my study of the Bible and science, that the two positions of evolution and creation just could not fit together. There are some real problems with the idea that God created through evolution... My prayer is that you will have this same experience!

The Bible's picture is that dinosaurs and man lived together on the earth, an earth that was filled with vegetation and beauty...man and dinosaurs lived at the same time...From the very beginning of creation, God gave man dominion over all that was made, even over the dinosaurs.

I believed that evolution and the account of the Bible about creation could exist along side of each other very well. (...) Eventually, I came to the conclusion

Oh, do pray tell, what specific facts and arguments convinced you?

Any time you're ready.

The Bible's picture is that dinosaurs and man lived together on the earth

Hence all the mentions of dinosaurs in the Bible. Yup. All of them. Hundreds... well, dozens... well, not one. But let's pretend it's in there.

man and dinosaurs lived at the same time

No, you goddamn fucking idiot, humans and dinosaurs did not coexist. I was never exposed to that crap, even when I was a Christian. I didn't know about this until I got in the Internet. And if something as simple as that brings Christianity crashing to the ground, good riddance.

Excuse my European ignorance, but would that be the same Rick Warren who's officiating at President Obama's inauguration? [sarcasm]Top choice!![/sarcasm]

The Bible's picture is that dinosaurs and man lived together on the earth

Then why doesn't the Genesis state that "God created big reptiles on day X" during the creation week if they really did coexist with human beings?

My prayer is that you will have this same experience!

Does the path to that experience involve hammer-blows to the skull or tumbling down a flight of stairs?

@Dark_Lord_Prime: Actually, by inviting this nutjob to deliver the inaugural prayer, and saying that he'll work with him on those issues on which they agree (aid to Africa is one, I think), Obama takes a step toward not making fundies feel totally marginalized. As long as they feel as though they have some sort of place (however minor) there likely won't be the same kind of impetus to organize that eventually led to 8 years of Shrub.

Yet another thing that's not in the Bible because the Bible was written by people who knew nothing about the Earth before man rose to prominance.

35 million years ago we had a primitive rodent or twelve, one of which is our ancestor. Dinosaurs had been around for millions of years already. We are not time-peers

This is contrary to when fundies and any follower of any version of the bible said there was no such things as dinosaurs, that fossilized dinosaur bones and remains were fake.

Now that they have been proven real, you once again re-write what you had been vehemently denying was proven true, and trying to spin that, totally ignoring that Dinos were last on earth 250 millions years ago and man has been around a scant 1.5 millions. The only reason there were human footprints next to fossilized dino prints: check out what sedimentary deposits are, okthanxbai!
