"Great, then you are the person who can explain to me exactly how to have strong morals without their having a religious underpinning. So...?"
Easy. According to the Wiccan Rede:
An it harm none, do what thou wilt
In today's Humanist/Atheist morality, that is elaborated upon further:
Treat others as you would like them to treat you. I wouldn't like to be killed/harmed, nor have my property stolen/damaged, so why should I do the same to others? Commit acts of gratuitous kindness. Be good for goodness' sake.
See? All the morals you'll ever need (that, and the laws of all decent, civilised, human rights-respecting countries). What right does religious belief have to corrupt - especially with the concept of 'sin' and 'guilt' - such a simple philosophy?
Ergo, 'morality' based on right-wing Fundamentalist Christian doctrine* (and that of all other fundie religions) has no right to exist. QED.
*- And we've seen shining examples of such 'morality', haven't we?!:
Jim Bakker (Embezzling of PTL 'pledge' funds)
Jimmy Swaggart (Adultery)
Ted Faggard (Preaching against the evils of homosexuality, but secretly gay himself; therefore a hypocrite)
Tony Alamo (Serial statutory rapist; will only leave jail in a box)
David J. Stewart (Paedophile)
Timothy McVeigh (Terrorist)
Scott Roeder (Murderer)
Ergo, the superiority of Atheist/Humanist (and therefore Pagan/Wiccan) morals. QED.
I love the smell of destroyed arguments in the morning. Smells like... victory.
