Let's take this one apart.
Many don't know it, but atheists have their own little Christmas prayer.
I seriously doubt that any atheists pray, seeing as we don't believe there is something there to pray to. It's about as effective as talking to a brick wall anyway.
They only have one: "Please don't let there be a God."
I know of very few atheists who really, really hope there is no God. Most don't care and a few actually want there to be a God, but can't believe in it because there is no evidence to support the idea.
Why would anyone want a life where there is no God?
Well, if the God in question is the vicious psychopath of the Old Testament, I can see why people wouldn't want him around.
A God that we can talk to whenever we are troubled, lonely, or in need of a friend?
Sure, you can talk to your God, but as far as I can see, you're really just talking to yourself. Have you ever gotten a concrete answer, by the way? I'm not talking about something you interpreted as an answer, but a real, definite response to your prayer.
A God that inspires us socially and intellectually.
Hardly. I've seen horrible things that were inspired by Gods more often than I've seen good, and very rarely do I come across an intellectual venture that was furthered by religion.
The atheist has nothing to look forward to in death, except if he or she is wrong.
And?
Jesus did not say forgive them for they know not what they do, for those who thumb their nose at Him and His kingdom. Only God knows what horrible suffering they will endure for eternity.
Well, that reflects very much on the character of your God. Don't give people any evidence that you exist and expect them to have blind faith in you, but create a world where blind faith is discouraged in every other endeavor so they have no reason to suspect that faith is actually a good idea other than what was written in a book thousands of years ago. The contents of this book are also not independently verifiable. Then, when they fail to have faith in the correct God (because you allow numerous other religions to exist as well) torture them for eternity in a pit of fire. How "merciful".
Why would anyone risk God's wrath, when his love is free?
Pascal's Wager is a crap shoot. Why would you risk the wraith of Shiva by worshiping the false God Yahweh?
