FUNDIE: Atheists have consistently been more bigoted and full of hatred than people from any religion..and certainly more fantatical. At least that is what I have found in my experience. They cannot disagree peacefully.
ATHEIST: Yes because we all know it's the atheists that are doing suicide bombings, burning witch children in Africa and burying thirteen year old rape victims in the sand to stone them to death all in the name of nothingness! Yup, you got us.
FUNDIE: The problem is, there are a lot more religious people than non-religious people, so to throw the all in one category is unfair. There will naturally be more violence from religious people for that reason alone. You don't see evangelicals killing people or Mormons killing people. Only Islamic fundamentalists..

[You don't see evangelicals killing people or Mormons killing people. Only Islamic fundamentalists..]
Then how do you explain Jonestown, the IRA, the conquest of the Americas, the Oklahoma City bombing, the Crusades, Bosnia, the Salem Witch trials, anti-abortion violence, anti-gay violence, and the KKK?
Tell us about those wonderful protestant missionaries that forced the bible on unspoiled peoples at gunpoint.
Tell us about the fellow who pumped his roomie full of lead because he thought he saw the devil.
So it's the *Islamic* fundamentalists shooting abortion doctors now?
Thanks for clearing that up for me, ace8842. All this time I thought it was the Christian whackjobs...
Actually, if you want to play the "spun all out of proportion" card, atheists are disproportionately less likely to be involved in the U.S. correctional system, as the U.S. Bereau of Prisons attests:
U.S. Overall Population --
Christians: 75%
Atheists: somewhere between 10% and 15%
U.S. Prison Population --
Christians: 75%
Atheists: 0.2%

...Kind of like when you basically say that AIDS is a gay disease, right?
lol mormons are some of the worst, i saw once on the history channel about a bunch of mormons in the old west who rescued a bunch of non mormons from indians, only to kill them all execution style once they had their weapons

Which is it?
'You don't see evangelicals killing people or Mormons killing people. Only Islamic fundamentalists.."
So who shot David Gunn? Under the Banner of Heaven has Mormons who killed people. And it is based off a true story and how sick their version of polygymy is. And the Army of God and Christian Identity are both Christian based. And I see far more hate from religious folk than from atheists,
And Christian fundamentalists.
And since your religion can't make people moral, and many people are obviously moral without religion, we find religion to be useless.
Ace... sorry, but the ones burning witch children in Africa are Pentecostal Christians, which, incidentally is the fastest growing segment of Christianity, and the segment in which I once ministered. BTW, remember the Pentecostal nut job that prayed over Sarah Palin, casting the "spirit of witchcraft" out of America? Yeah... he belongs to that crowd
What FUNDIE also fails to realize is,
that with religious violence it is the religion that causes the violence, whereas with atheism it is usually not the atheism that is responsible for it.
for example you might get killed by a christian (/muslim/whatever) because you belong to the wrong faith or wrong denomination within a faith (i.e. because you don´t belong to the faith/denomination of your murderer) a situation in which religion/faith is dirctly responsible for the murder.
Something which happened during the medieval ages in an organized manner btw. (persecution of heretics, witch hunts, crusades etc.)
You will however almost never see an atheist killing someone else because he/she is no atheist.
So you have to throw crimes commited because of faith into another category than crimes commited for other reasons (for examples muders commited by robbers or rapists to get rid of witnesses and so on).
Perhaps, if you take into accout the lower prcentage of atheists within the population, you might find out that for normal non religious violent crimes the percentage of atheists and christians with regards to their population group is the same.
But I am absolutely sure that for crimes where religion is responsible (either the religion of the culprit or the religion of the victim) you will find almost no atheists but a percentage that is multiple times as large for christian fundamentalists.
Google "religious massacres" then get back to us, ace(hole). You will find that there are countless massacres attributed to virtually every religion with a heavy majority going to Christians. You will not find a single example of a group of atheists killing people in the furtherance of their faith.
NOTE: Massacres have been perpetrated in the name of communism, and other political agendas which become religions in their own name, but even they don't count as massacres committed in the name of atheism.
You don't see evangelicals killing people or Mormons killing people.
1. The only reason we don't see that in America today is that the law will come crashing down on those Evangelicals. Islamic fundamentalists don't have that speed bump to slow them down.
2. Matthew Shepherd

What about the pastor's wife that shot and killed her husband right in his bed?
Or that lady in Texas who drowned her young children to death becuase "god told her too"?

That allows for a higher rate of occurence; it doesn't allow for a higher average viciousness and brutality for each one.
"problem is, there are a lot more religious people than non-religious people, so to throw the all in one category is unfair"
Not really since every Christian, Jew, or Muslim believe in books that promotes and condones horrrible interpersonal acts and crimes against humanity.
Well, all it takes is for fundies to stop being the evil right-wing 'in your face', 'YOU'RE GOING TO HELL IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE!' scum they are, and start being left-wing, meek, 'keep it to ourselves' 'Oh, you're not going to hell if you don't believe, that's all right', tolerant & generally more civilised people Christians are supposed to be.
That's all it'll take.
The atheist was obviously being sarcastic.
The Christfag, OTOH, is just fucking dense.
'You don't see evangelicals killing people or Mormons killing people.'
WRONG!

All fundamentalists/evangelicals. Also - ALL CONVICTED MURDERERS!!!
So get your head out of your tiny ass, ace.
What's so bigoted about "I find no evidence for existence of any gods, and until I do I will refrain from believing in any gods"?
Disagree with what? We all agree that there are no evidence for any gods, YOU are the ones disagreeing with that.
I didn't know Scott Roeder was a Islamic fundamentalist.
In Sweden most people are more or less non-religious and we haven't had a single school shooting, yet.
One highly publicized murder we did have, was a pastor in a village called Knutby, who coerced his nanny to kill his second wife.
The pastor is also suspected to have killed his first wife.
