They wern't burned to a crisp. What we think happen is that the asteriod blew up some much dust and ash into the atmosphere that it caused a nuclear winter and the dinosaurs starved to death. The only evidence we have for this is a thin line or iridium, an element very common in meteors but practically inexistant on Earth, that seperates the Cretaceous and the Tertiary Periods, and the huge crater off the coast of the Yucatan.
