Quote# 55825

Canada's notorious "Section 13" has resulted in persons being fined and harassed with "human rights complaints" before Orwellian "Humans Rights Tribunals" for so-called "crimes" such as "homophobia" and "islamophobia". These "tribunals" have a soviet union-like 100 percent conviction rate.

Rob, you are abusing the word "Orwellian". If you want to see something really orwellian, look at the southern neighbor of Canada.

Oh, how dare people stand up for their rights and their dignity. Cry me a river, asshat.

What the hell are you talking about? Of the tiny fraction of hate-speech cases that are prosecuted, only a small percentage leads to conviction, and a large chunk of those are overturned on appeal.

Stop "using" quotes.

Assuming (and bear with me here) that the 100 percent statistic wasn't pulled out of Rob's nethers, I'm guessing that by the time somebody gets tried for this kind of thing, you can guess that it's probably not just for a one-off, casual gay joke.

Bravo for Canada!

Dammit, Robert, stop calling yourself "the American." It's making us look bad.

Honestly, Canada, we're not ALL this fucktarded.

Your 'statistics' and 'facts' mean nothing to him and his persecution complex.

Once again I find myself apologizing to the denizens of the Internet on behalf of the United States of America. We are not all this stupid.

Homophobia in and of itself? Not a crime. Being obnoxious about it, and promoting that hatred and bigotry? *THAT* (under Canadian law) is a crime.

100% conviction rate? I'd like a citation for that. On the other hand, there is NO DEFENSE for spewing hate.

Truly, no one has it harder than you. What kind of world is it where we can't harass gays for no reason? Why, next you'll be telling me that women want to vote.

As long as they aren't harassing others (and there is a difference between stating ones opinion where appropriate and harassing), then they should be allowed to. Same with racist. They may not deserve respect for it, but I think they should be allowed their opinion.

But in truth, this is probably very one-sided information.

Sooo....What's the problem? They made hate speech illegal. I see no harm there.

Robert the American is full of shit. A Canadian newsmagazine, Macleans, successfully defended itself against a fallacious charge of "Islamophobia" for publishing an article that was perceived as unfairly critical of Islam.
Robert the American doesn't help his cause any by referring negatively to another case, that of Ernst Zundel, a noted white supremacist and Holocaust denier now serving a sentence in Germany for spreading lies.
You can be a racist twat in Canada if you want , just watch out if you publish your crap in any widely distributed medium.
