Yet, here I am, an atheist that has never killed a single person. I also know dozens of other atheists that are not murderers. I could also go to the trouble to point out the many murders that have been done in the name of the cross, as well as many other religions, but I'm too lazy.

We can make lists of Christians who have killed a lot of people. But the point is that we can also make lists of Christians who have killed people because of their faith, while it's very hard (or perhaps impossible) to find atheists who killed anyone because of their lack of faith.

Most of the people on that list killed people because they were dictators with a very twisted version of communism that isn't good for anyone, not because they were atheists.

Oh they're all willing to call Cathoilics Christians when it's convenient. Oh, and each and every one of those people you mentioned? They killed to maintain their power. Their religious beliefs factored in not one iota. Anita Bryant did everything in her power to ensure that homosexuals remained classified as subhumans, fighting basic equality initiatives...so while she may not have killed anyone, the belief she incited in others, which in several cases lead to violence, means she does have blood on her hands. The same can be said about Pat Robertson. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong, however, as John Paul II seems awfully out of place here. As a pope, he was fairly progressive. Finally, though, shall we talk about another good Christian? A spunky little fella, goes by the name Adolph...?

Anita Bryant and Pat Robertson get by purely on semantics. Anita Bryant promoted mob violence against gay people, and Pat Robertson (when he's not busy promoting assassination of democratically-elected politicians) has caused huge numbers of deaths through his participation in restricting the distribution of condoms in Africa. Fidel Castro gets his "1 million" under criteria much more slanted than those it would take to credit Dubya with well over a million dead in Iraq, in a much shorter period of time.

How many people did the Spanish Inquisition kill? The Crusades? If you are going to list atheists that committed mass murder, you have to also count ALL the Christians that committed mass murder.

And you could say that by discouraging people in Africa from using condoms, JP2 killed a whole lot of people by causing them to contract AIDS.

And, none of those people killed in the name of atheism, they killed because they were bad people, they would have been bad people and probably would have killed people even if they were Christian.

Lots of mass murder has been committed in the name of Christianity, I don't know of any mass murder committed in the name of atheism.

I read something similar about this in a comment in a shitty free paper. Some how wrote in using Hitler, Stalin and Mao and someone else to say that their death toll combined dwarfs people killed by religion.
Which I doubt it does...
