The bedrock of marriage has for the better part always been between a man and a woman, period! Now, if you'd care to prove otherwise then please feel free to do so. And try keeping it in the Eurocentric and American perspectives and not some tiny village in South America or something.

Well, how about the biblical examples... David had multiple wives, as did Solomon, Abraham, Lot, Job, and a whole lot more of the 'rightious'.
One man and one woman? Modern day marraige is a newfangled idea. It's changed in the past, and it'll change again in the future.
The problem is that from one man, many women, we passed to one man one woman plus lovers(the one who could afford), one 60 years old widower plus 1 20 years woman....................and so on. Care to redefine?, don't push outside America or Europe or you'll give us the best argument ever.
"American perspectives"
Mormon polygamy?
Someone needs to read a history book...
Many biblical men had more than 1 wife, couples throught history were arranged by parents and tend to be 1 17 year old girl and 1 60 year old man, homosexuality has been around as long as hetrosexuality.
Yes, because we all know those oh-so-primitive and savage villages don't mean anything! Never mind that women there are able to walk around with hardly anything on and not get raped 24/7. Please, what do they have to offer us? What does Asia have to offer us? Australia? Africa? The sun only rises and sets on America and Europe, darn it!
...You're a moron.
Boston is one of the largest cities in the United States. There is:
A large hispanic population, many from South America, especially Brazil.
Same-sex marriage.
Is your model of Bedrock marriage Fred and Wilma?
Even the process of pairing up has changed dramatically. It's gone from arranged marriages (in some cases where the husband and wife barely knew each other, if at all) to being by and large the choice of the husband and the wife.
if that little minute detail has changed, what else might be worth changing over time?
You mean the fact that gay marriages are performed, and the couples are living happily in places such as Belgium, Norway, Canada and the Netherlands? Or the fact that homosexual couples are going strong in both "American and Eurocentric perspectives?" There are several couples going on 50 years strong, even without the title of marriage to bind them. I feel they deserve the title far more than Britney after getting a quickie hitchie.
If your bed's rock, you're doing it wrong. (If the bed rocks, though, you're doing it right.)
GigaGuess: And an even quicker divorce.
Confused?
