"I am 47 and these are based on my observations between the Carter years and now:
- US on verge of financial collapse. Our debt has topped 10 trillion and next year's deficit is to top 1.2 trillion. We're at risk of losing our triple-A bond rating. Many have questioned why the US isn't mentioned in prophecy being as we're THE world power right now. We now have our answer, our financial time bomb is ticking away and could easily spell doom for the US. We were so worried about a nuclear attack that we failed to notice we had severe internal bleeding.
- Information/ communication revolution. One word- Internet. We know communication is to be nearly instant in the end times, we didn't know how that was possible in the Carter years but we sure do now.
- "This generation shall not pass". Israel was born in 1948. Most regard the "generation" to be 80 years. The clock is counting down!
- False christs/ prophets. Never in my life have I seen so many apostastic teachings going on at one time. The New Age movement is gaining followers by the day. Their movement is LOADED with false prophets claiming to be going to and from heaven at will. A recent study discussed in another thread highlighted that while most Americans call themselves Christians, they also believe in things such as ghosts, reincarnation, all going to Heaven, and worst of all that the Bible is not literal. False prophets are everywhere and they are deceiving even the elect.
- One World Government/ One World Currency. I don't think I've ever heard a single news story about talk of a OWG until last year. All of a sudden it seemed I couldn't look through the news without seeing some mention of it. Since Obama has been elected, talk of a New World Order has been rampant. Many countries are screaming for a OWC as the result of the recent US financial crisis.
- One World Religion. Honestly I never thought I'd see this in my lifetime right up until last year, but I have been astonished to see this in the news frequently as well. Religious leaders (a list that reads like a who's who of apostatic teachers) have been holding meetings to discuss an acceptance of all people and all religions into one big, happy, peaceful family. Things like the wrath of God are most unwelcome in these happy-happy gatherings.
- Natural disasters. You name it, we've had it recently. Earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, hailstorms, droughts, flooding, mudslides, fires. There have even been a couple of recent volcanic eruptions.
That's off the top of my head, I'm sure others can add to the list Bottom line, we need to get right with the Lord. Any way you look at it time is short. Even if it's another 10 years, well that's really not that long in the grand scheme of things.
I didn't mention Israel, certainly current events can be interpreted as prophetic but then again conflicts involving Israel were going on during the Carter years too."
