I always thought that when I sometimes promote atheism, I was trying to encourage free thought, rationality and reason; things that can greatly enhance people's lives. But apparently I want to rob souls of life. I never knew.

When an atheist attacks a Christian, it's usually because said Christian would not accept "fuck off" for an answer and has invaded one's personal space.

Verbal argument/debate does not qualify as an attack. If you don't want your beliefs challenged, keep them to yourself.

If by that you mean put an end to childish superstition that robs many of their human rights, spreads hate and attempts to hold back the progression of the human race through greater knowledge and understanding of the world and the universe that may help us one day to not only save ourselves but to understand ourselves as well, then yes you are correct.

I've never seen atheists go door-to-door. But to be fair, I think most Christians have good intentions. However, they seem to consider an atheist "attacking" when they are just discussing religion.
