"If science is not about proving theories or hypotheses, then why is so much money spent on research to try to prove these previously mentioned theories??"

Your head.
But then, should we expect nothing less from 'hoemskuled' fundies? There's two good things to come out of Kitzmiller vs. Dover:
1- It keeps fundie Creationism out of biology classes in perpetuity, thus students are taught the facts, therefore creating (pun may or may not be intended) future generations of educated, intellectual, questioning* generations; asking questions: the basis of Science.
2- It keeps existing fundies out of accredited schools, via their aversion to teh ebil facts, thus McDonald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell et al get a constant supply of shit-for-brains counter staff whose only contact with said educated, intellectual generations is at the drive-through, as they pick up their orders whilst driving back to their offices/research labs/school/college/university teaching jobs in their expensive cars, paid for via their high-flying salaries.
Someone has to keep these shit-for-brains fundies in work; monkeys paid peanuts, and all that jazz. At least said educated, intellectual Atheists are doing the charitable thing, and bringing their custom to them.
