Actually, primordial soup is not "mud". It is a very special compound that only occurs in a few very special conditions. And it didn't "turn into" an astronaut. The RNA and Amino Acids just slowly enlarged, creating more and more complex proteins over billions of years. Of course, I'm no expert.
