Quote# 56769

2009 is the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s The Origin of Species, so you can be sure the scientific community will bombard us this year with more “proof” of this sketchy theory. The mainstream media and academia insist that evolution is pure fact. Anyone who dares to challenge it is considered a religious idiot.

What people don’t realize is that Darwinism, besides being laughably lacking in scientific basis, has roots in spiritualism. Welsh naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace shared many of Darwin’s beliefs and encouraged him to publish his book. Wallace believed in spirit guides, participated in séances and was intrigued by all things paranormal. He promoted the “science” of evolution because it supported his anti-God views. Is it any wonder, then, that this doctrine he and Darwin propagated has been used to undermine Christianity ever since?

The world does not want to believe in a Creator because if He is real, then He has ultimate authority over His creation. On the flip side, man has no moral responsibility if he crawled out of a primordial soup, grew fins, then legs, and then became a talking ape. Evolution is not really about science at all—it is about rebellion against God’s rule over us.

Sure... and Newton believed in alchemy and Unitarianism. What does this have to do with anything?

We're not politicians, there won't be that 'pre election' flood of whatever to influence anything
And yes, since the majority of those that refuse to learn are religious and flaunt their religion as the reason they won't learn, of course they'll be seen as religious idiots

Oooh, slippery slope association, so therefor you agree your religion is racist, hateful and genocidal because the KKK and Hitler showed beliefs in it?

This from a guy that follows a book that says it's ok to commit mass genocide, kill, murder, rape, maim, and destroy as long as it's in the name of god...
The only reason it's seen as rebellion is because dumb fuckers like you ridicule it, then come up with reasons it's false, have no proof or evidence, have been defeated in court on the matter, and now in the process of acceptance, you're at the denial stage

You know, the scientific community doesn't use the Origin of Species anymore right? I would challenge you to find a paper published within at least the last few decades that sites it as an academic source. Darwin paved the way for a lot of research in the field, but it has progressed so far that his works are rather primitive compared to what we know now. You fundies just attack Darwin because you wouldn't be able to hold your position against a modern evolutionary biologist.

Most people who speak out against Darwin have never read
anything by Darwin. A church leader near where I live
had no idea that Darwin wrote any books after I asked him
which of Darwins books he has read.
Voyage of the Beagle is what fundies should read. They may
change their mind about what kind of person Charles Darwin
was.

Evolution doesn't disprove the existence of God. It disproves the belief that everything in Genesis is meant to be taken as a literal, scientific description of creation. So does astronomy, physics and geology, so it's not enough to deny evolution; you'd have to deny most of the entire of modern science.

Mainstream Christians have no theological problem with evolution. As someone said, "the Bible doesn't tell us how heaven was made, but how to make it to heaven".

The word theory in science refers to something for which there's a shitload of evidence. Saying 'sketchy theory' demonstrates your lack of understanding.

False premise: evolution being true neither disproves the existence of God nor does it absolve anyone of moral responsibility.

I wonder how long it'll take some of the idiots to understand a lot of us didn't need any development of life scenarios to ignore the fairy tales. I doubt anyone has ever rejected religion just because of evoltion theory.

You do not want to believe that god doesn't exist, because that would mean that your life has been a complete waste up till now.

Okay, now prove your God is real, is the only one out there, and actually cares if we believe in evolution.

Pretty much when they start admitting that those that leave where actually religious and not just pretending to be religious. In other words, never.

Clearly they don't consider anything having a "scientific basis" unless there's Biblical quotes to back it up.
