I think many psychotropic drugs used to calm these ("mentally ill") people down are calming down the flesh - the demon is ready to rage as soon as the drug wears off.

Hey, why don't you try an exorcism? If it works, we'll start listening to what you have to say. If not, we'll stick to the scientific medicine.
Calm, as in valium? You f'ing take away my valium and I'll show you demon possession. Hell, without that I couldn't move my arms and my heart would race 24/7. After a few days of that, I'd probably even try your exorcism because I'd be so damn desperate.
Why do I always think of the quote along the lines of - The ones that really need medication think there is nothing wrong with them, so the rest of us have to take medication to deal with the ones that don't.
It's not often I say this, but: DIAF. You haven't the first clue what you're talking about. Even if psychiatric medication does work as demon Kryptonite rather than by adjusting the patient's brain chemistry, it still has a better track record than your methods because (in the *vast* majority of cases) it doesn't kill people or make their conditions worse.

Speaking as someone who was diagnosed Bipolar in 1999 I can say with supreme confidence that you have no clue what you're talking about. Some psych meds have unavoidable physical side effects but their primary action is centered around the brain/mind. However, "demon" is as good a description as any of what I've always called my "inner monster" or "evil twin". If you ever catch its attention you better hope Jehovah is real because there is nothing and no one else that can help you. When the rage comes it's like the best drug you've ever tried. It feels so good and it feeds on itself until you find yourself doing and saying things you "yourself" never would. The only thing holding you in check is that tiny remnant of sanity that shrieks in horror in the back of your head as the rest of you rampages like an enraged were-bear.
Last year I was swallowed by the monster and it led to me destroying my own car with nothing more than a mop handle. I have openly threatened to murder people and in one instance I had to be physically restrained from actually killing a man using a 2x4. When my son told me his step-father had struck him and knocked him down, I tricked both him and my mother into going outside (at my mom's house) so I could search for one of dad's hand guns. I had every intention of shooting Tom's step-father in the face and it's only due to the fact that I failed to find dad's old Ruger that that person still lives. When I'm current on my psych meds I don't have those problems. Without them my wonderful 146 IQ brain would have led to either my own death or the death of others.
F*** with me at your peril.
I understand you to say that since you don't need the drugs, you are possessed by the demon of calm and peace. Also you are possessed of the demon of ignorance in that you have to put'mentally ill' into quotes when you are quoting nobody. That, in turn, means that the Demon of Bad punctuation is also within you. Get exorcised at once!

Actually, some drugs are highly effective against demons, flushing them out of your system. You'll pee them out.
"You know what's sad? Seung-Hui Cho's mother thought his problem was that he had a demon inside of him. Instead of taking him in for serious counseling, she took him to have an exorcism. Then he snapped and killed 33 people at V-Tech."
I'm not an expert on this matter, but from what I have read, Cho's mother was told by a church pastor that her son had demons in him. This is an important distinction. You have a mother who doesn't know what to do for her child, and turns to the church. The church then tells her her son has demons and they can help.
But there are no demons and the church couldn't help.
We should set up a controlled experiment, Take 20 people who are mentally ill and have doctors prescribe medication fror them. Take 20 other people suffering from mental illness and have them undergo exorcisms instead of taking medication. Then see how well both groups function over 2 months.
If the exorcised group functions better (or even just as well) as the medicated group, we might actually listen to folks like you, yael.

You can't be a $cientologist AND a Christian. On the walk across the 'Bridge', watch out for OT-III & especially OT-VIII. They're the doozies.
Although I don't suffer from the illnesses that others do, I do have some personality disorders and suffer from anxiety.
The reason for this seems to be rooted in being raised in a fundie home where I was told continuously how evil and sinful I was. Especially when I spoke up about what went on behind closed doors. Given the emotional, sexual, and physical abuse I suffered, I have to say that the worst was the spiritual abuse that fundies do on a daily basis.
In other words, go fuck yourself with a barbwire cross.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
