You say 'good' triumphs in the end? What you call good, God calls abomination...there are no good wizards, according to God... Gandalf & Co. unabashedly practice witchcraft and this is presented as a GOOD thing...how can I take pleasure in that?

I want so badly to just freak the hell out on people like this.
A Tazish blur of fists and teeth, screaming obscenities that, quite honestly, I am making up as I go along.
For there are no words.
It's sad that people can't differentiate between fact and fiction (of course that's the principle problem with fundies - the bible is fact!) and thus cannot enjoy allegory, fictional tales with a moral element (and I'd say LOTR and its genre are quite firmly based in the moral and ethical framework most westerners unerstand and support). It's not as though the observer is watching a live bible burning!
I truly despair of humanity to think that we have so many basically unintelligent people around.
The Lord of the Rings is a fairy tale, not to be interpreted through the Bible. Just a few hours amusement. JRR Tolkien was a Christian, by the way.
Isn't it witchcraft to walk on water, or to distribute 5 breads and 2 fishes to hundreds of people?
...how can I take pleasure in that?
1. Get a copy of the book.
2. Find a comfortable place to sit and sit down.
3. Open the front of the book.
4. Read the book: left to right, top to bottom
5. When there are no more pages left to read, close the book.
6. Get up and resume your life.
Gandalf the wizard in the work of FICTION by Tolkein did not practise witchcraft but rather was a kind of angel (more or less). At least learn the ficticous facts before you sling accusations.
Harry Potter and Co., Glinda, the three babes from Charmed, Endora, Samantha et al, wre not REAL either.
Gandalf & Co are fictional.
What I call 'good' is to treat others with kindness and resepct, to help those in need without expecting something in return, and to do you best to make the world a little bit better when you leave, than when you came here. Are these really abominations?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
