(In response to the claim that atheists apparently find the existence of god 'worrisome.')
I think maybe the worrying has to do with what they see as wars and stuff that are fought in the name of God. I wish they could understand how those wars are necessary. We may kill people but at least we've saved their souls!

Actually, no, if he exists, well then, he exists.
If he doesn't, which he doesn't...well...you guys are stupid and gullible
It is NEVER necessary to fight "in the name of (a) god". Any god that would demand other living things be slaughtered for no good reason (and that includes "but they worship *other* gods!") is NOT a god any sane being should *want* to follow. According to Egyptian myth, Sekhmet was dissuaded from slaughtering humanity with -- wait for it -- BEER! (It was dyed red, to trick her into thinking it was blood. She drank it and passed out. No word on the hangover, though.)
Plus, there is no need to "save" souls; there's nothing to "save" us from! We all go where we are supposed to go, gathered to the god(s) who chose us, reincarnated, or some simply rejoin the Universe.
I don't worry about brain-eating goblins breaking into my home at night to make a meal out of me because I know they don't exist, nasty as being a meal for some fearsome monster might be. Likewise, I think you know where I'm going with this...
"C is for Cortex, that's good enough for me."
"We may kill people but at least we've saved their souls!"
Where did you put them? Show me one. How much room do they take up? Do they need any care, like "walkies"?
If you can't answer any of these questions, then you haven't saved Jack. Your own dogma says only believing in the magic Jebus can save a soul, so you have blasphemed and bore false witness.
Mortal Sin! No Heaven for you!
If I remember corectly that´s the same thing the inqusitors said concerning the burning of witches.
We may burn them, but at least their soul gets cleansed from Satans influence and ascends to heaven
;)
"We may kill people but at least we've saved their souls! "
Shouldn't that be their decision to make? Not yours?
Seems like a pretty shitty trade off to me.
You know, I'm trying to not unfairly condemn entire religions because of a few extremist nutjobs, really, I am, but sometimes...
Confused?
