The way it was
I have learned a lot about athiests on this forum, and there is one thing that always come up. Christians are trying to push it on everyone or in schools, and the fact of the matter is, that we are trying to get it back the way it was. Athiests and people like them are responsible for taking prayer away from school, or even the pledge of alligence. America was founded and started by christians. Most of todays laws came from the bible. For example, do not kill, do not steal ect. You athiests took that away and we are trying to get it back. In court, people used to have to swear on the bible. Satan and his servants {the athiests] got rid of all the beutiful christian things that started this awesome country. The pilgrams were christians.
Know your facts athiests, christians were first and you took it out of almost everything.
So, your argument sucks. Its your fault that this world is going down.

God have mercy on your souls.

Im pretty sure that some athiests are going to reply with hateful answers.
If athiests get mad at this, it will prove me right.

I love how he just came right out with his confirmation bias. "Agree with me! That means I'm right! Disagree with me? It's because I'm right!"

Christians first arrived in America in 1492. Before that, there were Odin-worshippers, and before that thousands of years of Native spirituality. The First Nations all had well-established ethics, and fewer murders than Europe at that time.

Athiests and people like them are responsible for taking prayer away from school, or even the pledge of alligence.

No, having God in the pledge of allegiance is not the way it originally was.

America was founded and started by christians.

...like Jefferson, Franklin, and Paine.

Most of todays laws came from the bible.

It's true. The Patent Act is found, line for line, in the Book of Ezra.

For example, do not kill, do not steal ect.

Yeah, 'cause the writing of the OT is the only instance in world history in which it's occurred to anyone that those are not things to do.

You athiests took that away and we are trying to get it back.

Atheists are trying to legalize murder and theft? Is that your final answer?

In court, people used to have to swear on the bible.

Yeah, 'cause we can't just make people declare things under penalty of perjury. We have to make them swear on a book that forbids swearing.

Im pretty sure that some athiests are going to reply with hateful answers.

Fundy Word Redefinition Project:

hateful, adj. not in perfect agreement with me

BobMalarky

Yeah cause no culture anywhere ever had laws against killing and theft before the Bible was put together.

And which Christians are you talking about? The Puritans who left England? Those Calvinists who burned innocent women at Salem as witches? Those are the people whose example you want to base your moral compass on?

I find your post very amusing. It's like those annoying emo kids on myspace. Always whining about something.

"Christians are trying to push it on everyone or in schools, and the fact of the matter is, that we are trying to get it back the way it was."
You mean you'd like to return the world to what was described in "The Scarlet Letter"?

"Athiests and people like them are responsible for taking prayer away from school, or even the pledge of alligence."
1.) Only MANDATORY school prayer in PUBLIC schools.
2.) "Under God" was added to the Pledge in the 50s. Learn your history, dumbass.

"America was founded and started by christians."
Establishment Clause, Treaty of Tripoli, etc.

"Most of todays laws came from the bible. For example, do not kill, do not steal ect. "
1.) Yeah because those laws were never around BEFORE the Bible.
2.) It says "Thou Shalt Not MURDER", it never says "kill."
3.) Genocide, rape and slavery are sanctioned by the Bible.
4.) We have no laws against working on the Sabbath, graven images, adultery, taking the Lord's name in vain, etc.

"You athiests took that away and we are trying to get it back."
Never gonna happen, you fascist pig.

"In court, people used to have to swear on the bible."
So what? You think that makes a difference to a criminal if they swear on a Bible or the Necronomicon? I think not. Besides, separation of church and state, bitch.

"Satan and his servants {the athiests] got rid of all the beutiful christian things that started this awesome country."
Atheists don't believe in your imaginary friends OR your imaginary enemies.

"The pilgrams were christians."
And pedophiles...and fanatics...

"Know your facts athiests"
Learn some rudimentary history.

"Im pretty sure that some athiests are going to reply with hateful answers.
If athiests get mad at this, it will prove me right."
So, you call us the servants of Satan and then say if we're offended that you're right? You argue like a six year old...

I think we should go back to the religions of the native peoples who first lived in these lands.

Please point out in the Constitution where we are declared a Christian nation with laws based on the Bible. Not stealing and not murdering have been common to the moral codes of societies throughout history. Our laws are based on Roman law and English common law. Further, it's still permissible to pray in school. And court proceedings are civil occurrences, not religious. No one should be compelled to swear on a book whose beliefs he does not subscribe to. Grow up. Stop your whining. Read a book about American History.

Well, everyone already said pretty much anything I would have, so I guess the only thing to add is...in conclusion, Jobiwon, you are a dipshit. And for fuck sake, learn how to properly spell ATHEIST before you shit talk about them.

Sure, sure, in your imagination. Now how about this actual country in the real world? (Assuming you are talking about America and not, say, Iran).

Most of the points you raise about the founding of America have been thoroughly debunked numerous times with compelling and overwhelming evidence, including documentary evidence available for all to check.

To respond, as you do, in the face of that overwhelming evidence makes you you seem like an unreasonable fellow.

Atheists account for only a small proportion of the population in America and most people in the government are Christians. So how come atheists are so powerful and influential? Answer, they are not, but they make a handy scapegoat for the raving fundamentalists, who do love a convenient minority that they can blame and terrorize.

Love ya, Pule.

Hm,
I remember a lot of things being written about the people living in the caribbeans.

When Columbus arrived he encountered a completely peaceful society where everything was being shared and the crime rate was very low.
Even later christian governors who came to enslave the natives reported their peaceful nature and that, even if there ere wars among natives, seldom anyone lost their lifes.

Evrrything only change, when the europeans and their christianity took possession of the islands, enslaved the natives and introduced alcohol as well as the concept of torture and personal possessions, as well as the concept of "believe in our god or die" ;)

1/31/2009 10:38:33 AM

The Pilgrims, who were NOT the founders of this nation, BTW, came here to escape a government that was trying to impose its religious values on them. They came not to establish a theocratic nation, but to live their lives as they chose, free from religious oppression, which is exactly what you people are trying to impose on this country today...YOUR brand of religion, YOUR brand of Christianity, which is about as far from what Christ intended as it could possibly be.

Too bad that last post had commented on ect. I have nothing to contribute.
