Quote# 57079

I know what you mean. All the money spent to take out God out of this world could have done much more if it were donated for a proper cause. Perhaps, feed the needy.

"All the money spent to worship God could have done much more if it were donated for a proper cause. Perhaps, feed the needy."

Someone's blind to their plank.

"All the money spent to take out God out of this world could have done much more if it were donated for a proper cause. Perhaps, feed the needy."

Hey, how about we knock down all the megachurches and Creation Museums and convert them into battered women's shelters or homeless shelters or soup kitchens?

1/28/2009 4:30:05 AM

So how much do you tithe?

Oh, yeah, and that money you're using to pay for your computer and internet connection...?

1/28/2009 4:30:28 AM

Umm....You mean like the 80 million dollars the Mormon cult paid to get Prop 8 passed? Yeah, think of all of the needy who could have been helped with that. You fail.

1/28/2009 4:32:30 AM

Or, better yet, advertise in favor of Prop 8.

1/28/2009 4:32:56 AM

Soon as y'all stop building mutli-million dollar megachurches, I'll start listening to you without laughing.

1/28/2009 4:33:24 AM

Says the religion that owns the huge churches and doesn't pay their property taxes.

1/28/2009 4:35:43 AM

Really, when was the last time you organized a food drive or volunteered at a soup kitchen?

1/28/2009 4:42:24 AM

@ GigaGuess - No shit, one just went up a few miles from here. I'm in the frickin' NORTHERN USA... and a CITY. It is bigger than the community college next to it!

Antigod fights brain numbing stupidity. God cuts down trees and doesn't bother to pay taxes. Antigod wins.

Pule Thamex

Religion is one the biggest money-spinners going you knob. Confirmation that it was correct to add hypocrisy to the list of Rapture Ready characteristics.

Let the churches pay tax, and use the money raised to feed the needy.

Love ya, Pule.

The economy is in the toilet and we are all needy. How about removing the tax exempt status of all religions?

1/28/2009 5:29:33 AM

"Perhaps, feed the needy. "
You fuckers, by your own religion are supposed to be doing that, but instead you spend it on 'god is real' ads and 'down with homos' propaganda

1/28/2009 6:07:48 AM

Gee, weren't YOU GUYS supposed to do that?

Maybe cut the amount you guys spend keeping gay people from living their lives and lying about Obama...

1/28/2009 6:24:24 AM

Really? What money would that be? I've racked my brain, and I can't figure out how money could be spent NOT believing in God.

1/28/2009 6:33:55 AM

Perhaps, feed the needy.

But only if they're good christians, or promise to become one.

1/28/2009 6:36:54 AM

It's not an either-or scenario, you know. Some of us have enough disposable income to give to both causes.

For a cult that doesn't have a problem with dumping over $100k per minute into a hole in the ground called Iraq, you sure are the best qualified to tell people how to spend their money.

1/28/2009 9:27:57 AM

Non sequitur. Next!

1/28/2009 9:36:00 AM

And you guys should start respecting the system.

Dan Onymous

Fucking hell! I never thought I'd see anyone on Rapture Ready advocating feeding the poor and needy. Have they been banned yet?

1/28/2009 10:14:19 AM

The money spent on Prop 8 would of fed an awful lot of people mr julian....

1/28/2009 12:58:31 PM

Speaking of megachurchs what ever happened to the proposed investigation of these money making effidices? There was something about claiming non-profit needed to be redefined to stop their leaders from living like kings.

Remember the Bakers, 10 Roll Royces and air conditioned dog houses at ONE mansion? How the hell's that non-profit?

The Lazy One

The money religious groups spent on Prop 8 would feed a lot of people.

Contrast that with the idea that I spent a month's worth of allowance on soup at Costco for my school's canned food drive.

Think about that.

Oh, I just hate this kind of crap. This is a classic piece of one-size-fits-all sanctimony. Whenever something is being done that they don't agree with, they can shed a few crocodile tears, put a tremble in their little voices and mewl about how the money needs to go to feed the needy, clothe the poor etc. You can come across as ever so sensitive and compassionate whenever you talk about money going to the needy, when the real purpose is to undermine the thing you disagree with.

This just backs up my belief that fundamentalists are not interested in actually being moral, but rather appearing moral to others, in order to gain the social benefits that that entails. Case in point, since he is in the news again: Ted Haggard. Presumably he believed that God was watching him "sin" throughout the entire three years of liaising with Mike Jones, but he only became ashamed of it once his congregation found out. Whose opinion does he care about more? God's or his congregation's? I think the answer is clear...

Personally, I don't really like the bus campaign though - I fail to see the point and think it was a waste of money that could have gone to the needy.... oh... shit...
