I know what you mean. All the money spent to take out God out of this world could have done much more if it were donated for a proper cause. Perhaps, feed the needy.

Hey, how about we knock down all the megachurches and Creation Museums and convert them into battered women's shelters or homeless shelters or soup kitchens?
So how much do you tithe?
Oh, yeah, and that money you're using to pay for your computer and internet connection...?
Religion is one the biggest money-spinners going you knob. Confirmation that it was correct to add hypocrisy to the list of Rapture Ready characteristics.
Let the churches pay tax, and use the money raised to feed the needy.
Love ya, Pule.
"Perhaps, feed the needy. "
You fuckers, by your own religion are supposed to be doing that, but instead you spend it on 'god is real' ads and 'down with homos' propaganda
Gee, weren't YOU GUYS supposed to do that?
Maybe cut the amount you guys spend keeping gay people from living their lives and lying about Obama...
It's not an either-or scenario, you know. Some of us have enough disposable income to give to both causes.
For a cult that doesn't have a problem with dumping over $100k per minute into a hole in the ground called Iraq, you sure are the best qualified to tell people how to spend their money.
Speaking of megachurchs what ever happened to the proposed investigation of these money making effidices? There was something about claiming non-profit needed to be redefined to stop their leaders from living like kings.
Remember the Bakers, 10 Roll Royces and air conditioned dog houses at ONE mansion? How the hell's that non-profit?
Oh, I just hate this kind of crap. This is a classic piece of one-size-fits-all sanctimony. Whenever something is being done that they don't agree with, they can shed a few crocodile tears, put a tremble in their little voices and mewl about how the money needs to go to feed the needy, clothe the poor etc. You can come across as ever so sensitive and compassionate whenever you talk about money going to the needy, when the real purpose is to undermine the thing you disagree with.
This just backs up my belief that fundamentalists are not interested in actually being moral, but rather appearing moral to others, in order to gain the social benefits that that entails. Case in point, since he is in the news again: Ted Haggard. Presumably he believed that God was watching him "sin" throughout the entire three years of liaising with Mike Jones, but he only became ashamed of it once his congregation found out. Whose opinion does he care about more? God's or his congregation's? I think the answer is clear...
Personally, I don't really like the bus campaign though - I fail to see the point and think it was a waste of money that could have gone to the needy.... oh... shit...
Most of the money is being spent by fools who know what they're doing is an unconstitutional establishment of religion; but are so sure they're right and doing the Lord's work, they're willing to get dragged into court, lie about their religious motives and get slapped down by the judge. Talk to the defendants in the Kitzmiller trail.
How much money do you guys put towards Chick Tracts, pocket bibles, etc.? A lot that could be used to feed the needy.
The mega church craze makes me sick.
Since when did Christians care about looking out for the needy? Even Jesus says that he is more important than helping the poor:
"Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always." (Matthew 26: 6 - 11)
In other words, "We can take care of those poor people later, because they'll always be around." How heartfelt.
Feed the needy!
Fuck, if you took the money being wasted on god you'd have enough to feed, clothe, house, and provide Medicare for the needy.
@Dan Onymous
They would, except he's not saying that they should be emptying their coffers, or sullying their hands. They can hoard and shift all they wish...it's us evil sinners that could take a lesson from their charitable nature...so much so that they need not lead by example or anything.

So I guess all yor pastors with their megachurches will be selling such - including their cars, houses etc - as per Matthew 19:21, and just riding bikes and living in tents, 'spreading the Word' on street corners, eh?
As no doubt you - and everyone else on Ruptured Retards - will be doing exactly the same, hmmmmmmmm?!
Every second you're not, proves you're not the Christians you claim to be. After all...
You say so. Fundie, condemn thyself.
The sheer irony of you saying that, when megachurches exist, Christians put up those ridiculous "Put Christ back in Christmas" billboards, and other--
Fuck it, I'll just leave you to stare at that mirror for a while.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
