Many a coward has been bolstered in his conviction against challenging tyranny by not reading too deeply into the Scriptures. Yet, nowhere does the Bible ever suggest evil rulers are to be obeyed. When the rule of men conflicts with the commands of God, the Bible leaves no doubt about where we should stand.
That's why I do not hesitate today in calling on godly Americans to pray that Barack Hussein Obama fail in his efforts to change our country from one anchored on self-governance and constitutional republicanism to one based on the raw and unlimited power of the central state.
It would be folly to pray for his success in such an evil campaign.
I want Obama to fail because his agenda is 100 percent at odds with God's. Pretending it is not simply makes a mockery of God's straightforward Commandments.
So you will not see me joining in the ritual of affirming Obama and his mission in public or private prayer this week – or any other week.

I thought you were talking about President Obama, not ex-President Bush Jr.
Susan B Anthony described you, and others like you perfectly.
"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires."
"Yet, nowhere does the Bible ever suggest evil rulers are to be obeyed."
(1) Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
(2) Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
-- Romans 13:1-2
Sorry, you lose. Thank you for playing.
When a blue-stater says "raw and unlimited power of the central state", he thinks of a president doing end-runs around the legislative and judicial branches to start at least one war too many, cherry-pick what laws he will and will not obey, and push through a social and political agenda supported by a small but vocal minority of the American people.
When a red-stater says "raw and unlimited power of the central state", he means raising taxes.
EDIT: Oh, and not courting the small but vocal minority, a.k.a the Bubba vote.
"When the rule of men conflicts with the commands of God, the Bible leaves no doubt about where we should stand."
Maybe. The main point is: The Bible is not the word of God.
I am God, I should know.

Isn't that what Dubya did?
That's why there's no point in letting the bible be your guide, there's trillions of things it doesn't suggest. In my challenge against the tyranny of Christian fundamentalism I never use the bible.
I didn't think any human was godly, God-fearing maybe, but like unto a god?
I wouldn't expect you to have national and societal concerns as you are a fundamentalist.
Love ya, Pule.
I have this great idea. Clearly he is the antichrist so you should stop even voting. Go hide in your bunkers and caves now, yah. oh and pray, pray a lot, pray so you don't do much else. Keep this going for....many many thousands of years (please gather all fundies across the globe with you).
Or get a clue.

Read the Bible, Joseph!
The Biblical rulers fell more into the second category; "the raw [and unlimited] power of the central state." And yet they were blessed by God. Self-governance (as you seem to use the word) and constitutional republicanism doesn't exist in the Bible.

Pfffft. What the hell makes you think that anyone actually gives a shit? Do whatever the hell you want.

Whenever people I like are in charge, all powers that be are ordained by God. It says so in Romans.
Whenever people I don't like are in charge, we should follow God rather than man. It says so in Acts.
Hey, this Christian exegesis is fun.
Guy then says:
"Furthermore, it needs to be pointed out that in America we don't have a Caesar. Never have, never will. You see, our system of government is called a free republic, and it is based on the concept of constitutional self-government. We have no "rulers" in America except ourselves and our God. We believe in the rule of law, not the rule of men."
I guess Jesus meant, "Render unto Caesar, to Hell with Herod!"
"...So you will not see me joining in the ritual of affirming Obama and his mission in public or private prayer this week or any other week."
Oh. Well. OK. We'll try to get along without you. Try not to let the door knob hit you on the way out.

Because he didn't win an election, he became president by the edict of unelected judges. Oh wait . . .
What? If you say everything happens because of your God, then why did God let Obama get elected? If he was soooo freaking OMG bad, then how is it your God just stood on the sidelines and did nothing? Oh thats right...because there is no God and Obama was elected by VOTERS, not God.
Let's all see if this "praying for him to fail" thing works. Never did before, but heh, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
Six months ago you people were screaming that all Americans should stand behind their elected President, whether they liked him or not, for to disagree with him was un-American and tantamount to treason.
My my my, how times change.
Confused?
