/Why should we....nobody gave President Bush a chance/
We re-elected him, for heaven's sake. What does that tell you?
/I will for Obama, for that is what the Bible tells me to do./
Good for you.
/Why would a christian want to give him a chance./
Maybe because many Christians voted for him, myself included?
/We already know he will push the gay agenda with full force/
I'm a straight person living in Greenwich Village. I have never heard of this "gay agenda" that you fundies keep talking about, which leads me to conclude that it is nothing more than a paranoid, desperate scare tactic to vilify homosexuals.
/and fight hard for pro choice/
Good for him!
/and the continuation of the murder of babies./
Fetuses are not babies. By every medical definition, they are not babies, because they are not fully-formed humans. Besides, I've seen much of your ilk cheering on the Israelis and supporting their bombings of Palestinian villages, which do include babies. But I guess only white American babies count, right?
/His theme is "we are the ones" aka we are our own Gods./
If Obama has indeed said this, he is not the first. The humanist movement during the Renaissance also stressed the potential of mankind to create beauty and change within their own lifetimes and not just in the afterlife.
/Is this what we want to give a chance?/
Yes.
/I guess some people will still hop aboard the Love Train..because it's so
hip and cool./
Oh, I see what you did there.
/Hail to the first celebrity in chief./
Ronald Reagan was a Hollywood actor before becoming president and he's often hailed as the paragon of Republican pride. Barack Obama was a professor, a community organizer, and a senator, occupations that usually don't merit celebrity status. FAIL.
/There is an article on Worldnetdaily saying we should pray for Obama to fail. The more I thought about this the more I think that is correct./
He's our commander-in-chief and our country is in big trouble right now. If he fails, there's a good chance that our country might, too. As much as I disliked Bush, I never wanted him to fail because failure on his part often meant failure on that of our country. But he did and that's why we're in such a mess.
/If he accomplishes what he says he wants to accomplish, shouldn't we pray that he fails?/
He wants to renew our country's economy, global reputation, educational standards, and the public's trust in government. Why the heck would you want him to fail in those endeavors?
/I am praying that he will do God's will./
And who are you to say what God's will is? You do know that Jesus spoke out against false prophets, don't you?
/But Obama's policy stances are not on God's word./
Says you.
/So maybe I should start praying he does fail./
All right, now this is getting really despicable. You are no better than the political extremists who are willing to sacrifice the welfare of their country just so that they can advance themselves politically. Who do everything in their power to slander the current leader just so that he can step down, regardless of whether or not he's doing a good job, so they can snatch his position away. Right now, it's not just about Obama, this is about the welfare of our country at stake. If McCain were to become president instead of Obama, I wouldn't exactly be pleased, but I wouldn't pray for his failure because again, failure on his part means the failure of the country. Now is not the right time to be complaining and whining about how the other guy won. For you to be so petty and selfish, to worry more about what you think your God wants instead of how your wishes will affect everyone else, is absolutely pathetic.
/Since we have to foot the bill for his security and I don't support the guy, I want mine back./
You can't have him. He's already served his full term, served more than he should have in the first place. And no, it's not the evil media's fault, or the Democrats', or the liberals' who mandate this. It's our Constitution. So, cry me a river.
/I could care less what happens to BO./
And I'm willing to bet that during Bush's Administration, this person was saying that anybody who didn't agree with Bush was a godless, anti-American traitor. What a crock.
