The pyramids are news to me. I'll take it as an urban legend until I see a NASA photo. The infamous "Face on Mars" that some say looks like Elvis and is therefore proof of an earlier civilisation has been debunked. A Digital Elevation Model shows it to be a mesa. It's just a hill with some features that cast shadows that make the face when the Sun hits it just right. Nothing unusual. We have faces in cliffsides on Earth. One became a symbol of the state of New Hampshire, but the Old Man didn't look like Elvis or Jesus, so he only got the summer tourists who were in the area anyway.

The "face" on Mars looks like a face only under certain lighting conditions and at a certain angle. Other times the rocks don't look like anything noteworthy.

So here we have the infamous "Mars Face", shot by the Viking orbiter in 1976:
And here is the same surface feature, shot by the Mars Global Surveyor in 2001 (from a different angle, and with a much higher resolution):
This whole thing is nothing but an ordinary table mountain. Standard geological feature.
But two years later (the RR post is from 12/1/2003) people still claim that there is a "face" on Mars... some people obviously refuse to learn, and rather want to "believe".
The whole episode is a wonderful example of "Pareidolia". The "Mars Face" is nothing but the same phenomenon as any "Virgin Marys" on a piece of toast. When somebody is deceiving here, then it's YOU, Mr. "Illusion", who is deceiving himself.
