Job 38:35: Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, 'Here we are'?

If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, how could they know that you can send messages with electricity?

Job 38:24: By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?

If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, how could they know that the sun causes the wind on earth?

Mrs. Antichrist

ELECTRICITY DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY

WIND DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY

NOTHING WORKS THAT WAY

Well, actually, the amount of heat we receive from the sun can affect weather patterns and wind flow (different temperatures of air and whatnot), but not in the way that that passage claims. Generally, it's terrestrial factors that play the biggest role. Same goes for the phone -- electricity plays a part, but we certainly don't send messages via lightning. Why don't these passages describe telephones and different temperatures of wind fronts in detail? Why use strange descriptions that are bordering on metaphor?

"If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, how could they know that you can send messages with electricity? "

Or... they meant thunder. Which seems more reasonable, given that god seems to be saying "I'm fucking awesome, and you're not". Why would he posit a question to which the answer is now yes?

"If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, how could they know that the sun causes the wind on earth?"

because the sun DOESN'T cause the wind on earth. you fail.

If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, how could they know that you can send messages with electricity?

If the Bible was written by people who were inspired by the Omniscient One, why would He tell them that it could be done, but not teach them how, but let them take another few millennia to figure it out?

1. That passage says nothing of the sort.

2. Because as the day progressed, the winds shifted in a predictable pattern. Not hard to understand, and in many respects, the anceint Jews were surprisingly wise.

Oh, to all those who say that the sun doesn't affect wind-patterns - you're wrong. The diurnal rhythm certainly affects wind patters. Or else Perth (my home city) wouldn't get the "Fremantle Doctor" reliable EVERY SINGLE DAY, no matter what the weather patterns were. And would be uninhabitable in consequence. I'm not kidding. Perth is unbearably hot in summer with the Doc. Without it.....I don't wanna think about that.

If the bible was written by people who supposedly(according to you) knew so much about the world, why did they write in such vague language and if they had the knowledge of how to build advanced things why didn't they do it? Oh, I know, because you're full of shit.

If the Bible was written by people with so much knowledge of the world, why is America not mentioned? Or Australia? Or Scandinavia? Or Japan, Or Antartica? Or Glaciers? Or India?

1. They would not have known lightning was electricity - however, lightning in mythology is typically used as a symbol that the gods are displeased.

2. It doesn't.

Empirical observation. The air is normally still before sunrise. Ever travel in a hot air baloon. You have to get there in the dark as the risen sun causes air currents.

Don't you fundies ever think?

a Vague verse even in context. Isn't explaining radio transmission, or electrical manipulation, more a plea of "show your power"

People then lived in the open, like farm children today they learn to read the winds , feel temperature changes and smell rain (it does have a smell before it rains, and dampness and temperature change)

The morning sun creates then burns off fog, they knew it then, we know the dynamics of why now, it causes updrafts for one thing. This East wind shift hardly fits most the world anyway and certainly isn't a scientific revelation

You missed some, allow me...

Job 38:4 - Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?

If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, why did they think the Earth stood on a solid foundation?

Job 38:12-13 - Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place, that it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it?

If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, why did they think the Earth was flat and had edges?

Job 38:16 - Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?

If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, why did they think the sea came from underwater springs?

Job 38:36 - Who endowed the heart with wisdom or gave understanding to the mind?

If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, why did they think wisdom came from the heart?

Job 38:37-38 - Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens when the dust becomes hard and the clods of earth stick together?

If the Bible was written by people with not much knowledge about the world, why did they think monsoons came from giant water jars in the sky?

And remember, this is supposedly an omniscient God speaking in a book that is supposedly his infallible word. So it's guaranteed 100% accurate!
