Its definitely not that some of us could be good and moral people who happen not to agree with you.

I don't believe that most people are intelligent enough to realize without the Holy Spirit that harming another is wrong,
Do you mean to say if you are christian that harming another is OK?
It's been made clear throughout these threads over and over. I think that the fear of spending life in prison keeps non-religious people from killing/harming one another.\"
While it's fear of god that prevents religious people from killing each other.

You might want to look here: http://holysmoke.org/icr-pri.htm
\"Note that atheists, being a moderate proportion of the USA population (about 8-16%) are disproportionately less in the prison populations (0.21%).\"

So, hypothetically speaking, if you didn't have your delusion, you'd be homicidal. Thanks for the warning.
I've been atheist a quarter century and I take spiders gently to my back door in my hand because I respect all life naturally, even you sick fundies. Even godless I would rather have a broken arm than discover my actions hurt the innocent.
[Why do I keep trying reason with these people?]

Well I do give a \"hoot\" about other people. I just value myself above others. And yet I still value others too. Look into Existentialism and Objectivism sometime.
We have evolved to have animalistic altruism hard wired in us.
Hmm funny...I'm listening to Pearl Jam's \"Do the Evolution\" right now.

Doesn't quite jive with the fact that most people in our prisons are christians.

This is simple psychological projection. He is saying that people need some sort of \"threat\" to keep them in line, because ultimately, that's all religion really is. So he simply assumes that non-religious people think the same way.

Yeah.
And guilt.
And knowledge of macroeconomics and deep desire to help the human race.
But at least part of it is the prison.

@anti-nonsense:
That's pretty much what I was going to say. How is refrainignf rom harm out of fear of life in prison andy worse than doing the same only for fear of going to hell?

I think fear of spending life in Hell keeps religious people from killing/harming one another. Sane people just rely on the idea of treating others the way they would want to be treated...

Well, yeah, I wouldn't want to spend even a single day in prison. However, that isn't the reason why I dion't harm others. I have morals, you know, and I don't need some ridiculous holy ghost to keep me from straying. Furthermore, seeing as inciting murder and mayhem seems to be one of the fundies' favourite pasttimes I suspect you are a pot in need of meeting a kettle.

Now I'm scared. If you can't perceive on your own that harming others is wrong, then you should not be allowed to walk free.
What fear keeps you from killing/harming others, Light Walker?
I wouldn't want to be harmed or killed, that is what keeps me from harming or killing others.
I didn't realize that I was super-intelligent...

For thelast time, STOP SAYING THAT!
religious=/=Christianity!!! I'm religious, but I'm PAGAN! For crying out loud! I DO NOT use the holy spirit as a moral guide! And besides,I would think that the fear of jail time/mortal retribution would keep ALL people, religious or not, from killing/ harming each other

Most people dont think of harming others except occasionally as fantasy. A few people behave because of fear of punishment, either secular now, or religous when they die.
Now go play in the street.
