Quote# 57539

Genesis 1 makes it clear that there is a creator. It answers the question: who are we? as if speaking to an orphan who wants to know who his real parents are. The problem with evolution is it is based on assumptions.

the problem with christianity is that it's based on bullshit.

1/29/2009 8:01:16 PM

You do know that it's a made up story don't you?

Yeah, Genesis also has a dirt man, a rib woman and a talking snake in it. It's a fairy tale!

"Genesis 1 makes it clear that there is a creator."

No, Genesis 1 clearly states there is a creator. There is a big difference. That there actually IS a creator is, to be as charitable as I can be, an unresolved question.

"It answers the question: who are we? as if speaking to an orphan who wants to know who his real parents are."

It most certainly doesn't answer that question, unless the answer you get is "We Fundie Christians are people who believe in the statements made in an ancient, often-wrong book of unknown origins."

"The problem with evolution is it is based on assumptions."

Wrong again, a**hat. The ToE is based upon solid scientific evidence. The Bible is based upon the words of ignorant ancients and the wishful thinking of Christian believers.

The Hobbit makes it clear that there are hobbits, dwarves, elves and wizards.

The problem with the bible is that it is based on bronze-age campfire stories.

It shames me to know that the UK has its own loony fundies, but we do.

Fortunately I think we exported the genotype for aggressive, vocal, and vociferous idiocy to the US

Spudthecat, you sounds just like that crazy preacher they repo'ed a car from in Operation Repo on TruTV. He was trying to tell the repo-guys that god paid his bills. It was a great scene, gave me the lulz for several minutes!

1/29/2009 8:22:40 PM

Is he even trying?

1/29/2009 8:24:19 PM

Nice going, tard.

Random Man

You assume that Genesis is historical.

1/29/2009 8:32:46 PM

Fresh Claire

Are you aware of what an 'assumption' is?

1/29/2009 8:33:53 PM

We wouldn't want our beliefs to be based on assumptions, now would we?

1/29/2009 8:35:31 PM

Old Viking

This observation bodes ill for us non-believers. Wait. No it doesn't.

Simple and easy to grasp =/= right

Genesis 1 makes it clear that the religious hierarchy wants us to believe there is a creator. It makes getting offerings so much easier. Otherwise, they might have to actually work for an honest living like the rest of us, not that selling bullshit isn't work.

The assumptions behind science:
1) The universe really exists.
2) We can accurately observe and describe the universe.

The assumptions behind Creationism:
1) The bible is true no matter what.
2) If reality disagrees with the bible, see #1.

"The problem with evolution is it is based on assumptions."

And the problem with Genesis is that it's bad science-fiction.

Let's all go play on the circular reasoning merry-go-round!

1/29/2009 8:59:09 PM

The only thing that Genesis makes clear is that the early writers of the Bible were dumber than camel shit.

1/29/2009 8:59:38 PM

Horrible book, gave me the craps

The Neon Genesis Evangelion anime episode 1 makes it clear that there are giant robots in Japan. It answers the question: who owns giant robots? as if speaking to an anime fan who want to watch some giant fucking robots fight giant aliens.

Mister Spak

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone makes it clear there is a Hogwarts. The problem with christianists is that they are muggles.

ApYrs: can you take them back?
