[From a thread about a news story of scientists successfully teleporting matter over 3 feet.]
It is probably bogus science put on the news to mentally prepare the masses an explaination on why millions vanish from the planet

1) I doubt there are "millions" of people who actually believe in the rapture.
2) There won't be a rapture. Not only is it not real, but it's not even in your bible.
3) Trust me, there is no vast conspiracy to get rid of you guys. We need people who make us look smart by comparison-though that's not saying much...
They didn't teleport "matter" 3 feet, they caused a single atom 3 feet away to align some of its quantum states with the same states of the atom they were working on.
This isn't so much teleportation as duplication, and then only of quantum states, not of the material that the quantum states were in.
It's interesting how Raptards claim that "millions will vanish", yet nobody but them is a "real Christian".
They don't even realize that very few Christians believe in the rapture myth.
The scientists really did that?! OMG, I have been dreaming of teleportation ever since I started driving. That's, like, all I really want out of life.
Edit: Tracer, you just ruined my dream. *sob* ;)
I saw a movie about this copy transporting idea. It didn't work out well. Think of a fax of a fax of a fax of a fax... the more people transported the weirder they got.
Do they really think Scientists are sitting around trying to come up with an explanation because they secretly know the rapture will happen?
So now you expect people to believe that there are scientists conspiring to cover up an event that the majority of people, christian or otherwise, don't believe is going to happen.
An event which your doctrine says that no one knows when it will happen, but somehow this cabal of scientist is preparing for, presumedly because they are in league with the antichrist and the forces of "evil", who also don't know when it's going to happen but wait over two thousand years to start preparing for.
See it doesn't make any sense when you stop for a second and think about it, does it?
Sorry, but your "rapture cult" is not that important to the scientists or the world.
Honestly, you should think real hard about the thoughts that lead up to that post and approach a therapist with them.
Quantum Physics Fail. They did not teleport matter in the sense of what we know matter as. The best way to describe it in ways you can understand because you have a pea for a brain, is to say that they teleported information from one particle to another. Scientists doubt they will ever be able to transport matter in a Star Trek type transporter. The computing power needed is inconceivable at this point. Barring any major breakthroughs, it is likely never to happen, or, at best, it is many, many centuries in our future. Where this technology will impact us, is in the field of quantum computing.
@Voldemort:
It has potential applications in computing. Instead of silicone chips, which some have suggested are reaching the theoretical limits of what they are capable of, information will be transferred using quantum particles. The result will be computers that are "light-years" ahead of what we have now, in terms of speed and memory capacity.
If all the so-called christians disappeared, whether by teleportation, transmogrification, rapture, or the Boogeyman got them, who would any explanation go to? Who would care where they went or how they got there as long as they aren't coming back?
"Hey! Ya know wut? I haven't been pestered half to death by any fundies in quite a while. What do ya s'pose happened?"
"Dunno...want another brewski?"<Tsshhhhhh>
what do you mean millions? if you bible people would read the book, you would realise that only 44 000 will be taken, according the bible. learn the book you are preaching about so maybe you can get a decent debate. now you are just wasting my time.
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
Marc, it actually is in the Bible. :) 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
@him:
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
This passage is interpreted very differently by various theological streams within Christianity. It depends upon one's view of Eschatology (end time events). The idea of this applying to a pre-trib rapture is a recent theological viewpoint in terms of Christian thought, dating from the mid 1800's. In other words, for 1800 years, it was not taught. The Early church fathers did not teach the idea of a rapture.
you wouldn't know science, physics, truth, proper reasoning, advancement of the human species through science, intelligence, or even the purpose of science if it slammed you in the face.
with a sledgehammer.
nah, you'd probably keep walking thinking about how glorious your afterlife will be, a miserable compensation for how retarded and pointless your life is.
Confused?
