Quote# 57607

It is absolutely hilarious that the same people that say they dont support the bible blindly support science blindly. Science has become the new generalized accepted god and religion - and it isnt perfect by any stretch. Still, people will blithely support scientific ideas and products fed to them without having the slightest clue of what it means. That is dumber, to me, than believing the bible -- at least you can draw applicable conclusions from the "stories" in the bible.

No, believing in God is both uncool and non new-age. The IN thing right now is to believe in Mother Earth, global warming, terrorists, and science.

Maybe when the majority of the population is wiped out we will all be looking for a "god"... lets just hope the god you find is the one that will save you in the end

When will you guys learn to use punctuation right? You always have too many !s and ?s in the middle of sentences, and not enough ,s. That reads like 'bible blindly science blindly blindly'.

That is dumber, to me, than believing the bible -- at least you can draw applicable conclusions from the "stories" in the bible.
At least you admit that definition of dumber only applies to your blather. What conclusions do you draw from the story of the striped goats?

No, believing in God is both uncool and non new-age. The IN thing right now is to believe in Mother Earth, global warming, terrorists, and science
WTF?
- Mother Earth was popular in the 70s, when such concepts were the hip thing. You seem very terrified at the thought of people praying to trees, to me it seems at least as harmless as your delusions, or maybe even more benign.
- Global warming seems to be supported by scientific data, though I don't understand it enough to really make qualified statements about it. That would require hard mental work I have been unable to find the time for. I'm sure you can relate.
- Terrorists are people that definitely exist though reasons for their existence are vastly oversimplified (by right wing media and its associated religions).
- Science doesn't require my belief. I can do the observations and check the data with my own eyes, that is, if I even understand what it is I should be checking. Do you honestly think you have even basic knowledge of accepted sciences, that you can be so arrogant as to claim you know better?

Maybe when the majority of the population is wiped out we will all be looking for a "god".
Or maybe we won't because we'll be wiped out?

lets just hope the god you find is the one that will save you in the end
That sounds like a positive thing to hope for.

I have lacked a belief in God from long before the "New Age" was thought of. Even since before hippies invented Haight-Ashbury .

Get the fuck off the internet - it exists because of science you dumbfuck. While you're at it, stop eating the food you buy, driving a car, wearing clothes, taking medicine. They all exist because of science.

Why don't you go and use technology produced by religion?

Science has testable, verifiable, fucking PROOF. Christ, you people are stupid!

@Illuminatalie -- RE: "praying to a tree"

Yeah, plus, we can prove that the tree is real.

lolmax

You can continue ignoring reality then. Also, gtfo the computer that SCIENCE built.

We should worship women, the creators of all human life.

Not that men don't have a part in that, but they don't carry the little bastards around inside themselves for 9 months.

But I actually don't 'support science' blindly.
Nevermind that science isn't some sort of monolithic entity that you either 'support' or 'don't support'. The point is that proper scientific discoveries are backed up by evidence and peer-reviewed, and you can look at the evidence and either agree or disagree with the conclusions.

It's like this:

Evolution: Makes sense, I believe it happens.
Quantum mechanics: Doesn't, and I don't care enough to really believe one way or the other.
Global warming: I really don't care, since air pollution is either causing global warming or being its own problem.

Then there's the Bible, and you're all "God said so, I have to believe it", without asking for evidence, and you're drawing nonsensical conclusions without any proof. And it bugs the shit out of me.

"The IN thing right now is to believe in Mother Earth, global warming, terrorists, and science."

This is weird. I dunno what this Mother Earth thing is [The earth is more like a planet] and I don't particularly care about global warming [as I stated above], but are you saying that you don't believe in terrorists?

So what happened with the killdozer? What would you call such incidents if not the work of terrorists?

And if you don't believe in science, you simply a fucktard for disregarding all its acheivements. Like corn syrup. Look at this shit. It's fucking tasty.

The problem with this premise is, many of us DO understand science. Biology, chemistry, physics, cosmology etc. I understand them all to an extent. That's how I know that fundies are stupid, intellectually lazy or cowardly.

Stupidity, laziness and cowardice are often complementary.

Blindly means without any evidence to support one's position. That's religion, dipsh*t, not science.

The thing about science is that you don't have to support it blindly. Scientists have evidence, the bible doesn't. End of story.

When your computer crashes, do you open your bible to find out what went wrong?

Remember, your answer marks you either an idiot or a real fucking idiot.

If science is the new religion, then research facilities should be tax exempt.

Science is not perfect. It never ever even claims to be. It never said it has all the answers. It is trying to find "the answers".

It is religion that claims perfection and knowing all the answers without basis.

Mother Earth? The earth is vvaluable cause we live on it. You would not crap in your living room, so why do you want to crap in someone else's?

Science has become the new generalized accepted god and religion...

Science has given Humanity the ability to:

Give sight to the blind
Cause the deaf to hear
Communicate instantly with anyone, anywhere in the world
Devise medications to cure/destroy previously deadly diseases--remember polio?
Feed the entire world (theoretically--there are still social/national barriers to making it a reality)
Explore the limits of our solar system
Peer out to the horizon of our universe and witness events from millions of years ago

As soon as the Bible makes it possible to perform those functions or improve on them then the Bible takes second place every time.

I think "climate change" theory is mostly shit, as are terrorists of any stripe, and I respect the Great Mother.

Speaking of terrorists, what do you think of those terrorists who attack abortion clinics? Support them?
