Many (if not most) unbelievers have very little knowledge of the Bible. It's quite amazing that when you start pressing them you find their beliefs (or lack thereof) are based not on knowledge, but on complete ignorance.

Have I memorised the Bible? No.
Can I research the Bible? Yes.
Is this in some way hard to understand?
I actually do try to read the Bible daily, just to confuse the hell out of fundies.
Yeah? Where does the bible say anything about a rapture?
BTW I'm currently studying Daniel, specifically the arguments regarding its place in history.
Most of us know the Bible far better, and in more depth, than you do. Why, heck, we're even familiar with the scholarly analysis that's been devoted to it for the past 300 years. But I wouldn't expect you to be aware of it.
Tres has actually encountered "unbelievers" here (and I hate that word--not believing his belief doesn't make anyone an "unbeliever.") At this point, he's simply lying. The majority of American atheists and Pagans are converts away from Christianity, and we *tried*. I have little medals, certificates, and trophies from Bible "sword-sharpening drills."
But, you know, if he'll lie about us to others, I suppose it's not a far leap for him to lie to himself and tell himself that nobody can read what he did and come up with a different result.
Many unbelievers where believers who accepted the Bible without reading it other than the verses that they always heard. When they did read their Bibles they saw how unbelievible it really was and how cruel and sadistic they God they were blindly following was.
Read your Bible mate, and ask yourself "Do I really want to be a part of that?"
didnt this moron spend like two days on the boards here trying to defend the pack of hateful racist assholes they run with, THEN RAN THE AWAY TO GO HIDE BEHIND THE RR MODS AGAIN? You keep whining about our 'ignorance', coward.

If think if you'd actually ask some "unbelievers" that you would find that is not at all true. Many (if not most) unbelievers have, at a minimum, a decent knowledge of the Bible, with another smaller percentage having extensive knowledgeof the bible (Mostly from being deconverted fundmentalists)

No, what's quite amazing is when people like yourself try that and then get raked over the proverbial coals by an atheist with a far more extensive knowledge of your holy book than you yourself possess. At which point you almost always revert to type and start with either self righteous condemnation, lying for jesus, or both.
I have found most fundies to be either willfully ignorant of what is written in their bible, or deliberatly sheltered from it by their pastors/church elders/prophets/etc. Most fundies condemn things they don't like and then go and cherry pick a verse or two that they can twist to support their position.
My favorite verse from the bible, proof that God could not have faked fossils, radiation, etc:
Titus 1:2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie , promised before the world began;
I have read the Bible, and the Koran. At least the Koran is written as poetry.
Many (if not all) Xtians have very little knowledge of the bhagavad gita. It's quite amazing that when you start pressing them you find their beliefs (or lack thereof) are based not on knowledge, but on complete ignorance.
Many (if not all) Xtians have very little knowledge of Buddhist scriptures. It's quite amazing that when you start pressing them you find their beliefs (or lack thereof) are based not on knowledge, but on complete ignorance.

I can keep this Going all day
From a Rapturite? The religion thats damn near all dogma. A rapture believer suggested others have little understanding about whats in the Bible?
The people who are told to take it all on faith, without proof and to never question it, search it's history or compare it to others? That's you guys. None of you read the Bible or know it's beginnings
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
