[Digitized wrote: The economy is falling down around our ankles and we're worried about MARRIAGE? Fix the economy first! I want to have a future, and I'm not really all that concerned with who marries who: I want to have a future job in the computer programming field, which isn't going to happen without a functional economy.]

Cherished wrote: This is the problem right here. James 4:13-15
13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

We get so caught up in making plans, for the future, our lives, etc. God has promised never to leave or forsake us, and trying to ensure your security by your own works is not trusting God, in essence you are calling Him a liar. He will provide for you, if you humble yourself and ask. Remeber also God isn't going to give us something that is out of line with His will, sorry. God knows what is best for us, and He wants us to look to him. Phillipians 4:6 People have twisted scripture to mean something totally opposite of what God intended. I suppose an argument against me would be John 10:10. The abundance Jesus speaks of isn't a material worldy one. He is referring to the abundance one would know when being totally fulfilled by Christ. Jesus did not die so you could have all the money you want. Is money necessary, yes. Is it the most important? no! Our most prosperous future is held in the scarred hands of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His Word is a lamp to feet, I encourage you to trust fully in Him, and not the economy. We are part of a far better economy, God's economy. We are joint heirs with Christ.

Yeah, you go right on reading that silly book, see if it fills your stew pot, or warms you house during the winter when you can't afford to buy food or pay for heating.

"(...) in essence you are calling Him a liar."

No "essence" about it. I AM calling your god a liar, and I can use your own wholly babble to back it up. Listen and learn, grasshopper:

(Genesis 2:9)
"And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil."

There are two special trees in the Garden. Okay, got that.

(Genesis 2:16-17)
"Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

God says the knowledge tree will kill. Fair enough.

(Genesis 3:4-5)
"And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

Wait a tick...the snake says the knowledge tree will (gasp!) give knowledge! Let's conduct a little experiment, shall we?

(Genesis 3:6)
"She took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."

And then she died, right? That's what God said...

(Genesis 3:7)
"And the eyes of them both were opened"

Oops.

This is the same argument that Jimmy Swaggert, Benny Hinn, Pat Robertson and a boatload of other televangelist cocksuckers use to con empty headed dipshits out of their money.

You'd let the economy go to hell because you're more concerned with denying Gays the right to have families of their own.

Then, when things go to shit and people can't feed their families, you'll howl about God punishing us for our wicked ways.

I love it.

If you want to condemn yourself to no food, no medical help, no life, because you are thus avoiding the gheys, knock yourself out. If you want to condemn the rest of us to the same, please volunteer yourself for medical experiments on dangerous new drugs, so society can get back a little of what we invested in you, because we didn't realize what a permanently worthless failure as a person you are.

So...

God doesn't intervene in this world, but is in charge of the afterlife.

Therefore, you say we should trust to him in this world, yet the ones you think will go to hell must be punished NOW.

Yeah. That makes sense.

I love it how a fundy can make a statement come to a grinding halt by simple quoting a bible verse while we all have to wade through ancient dialect and nomenclature look for some sort of way to make it some how connect with their own interpretation of said verse.

Makes me sick in a wonderful wonderful way.

Yes. That's the problem right there. The bible is a complete waste of time as a guide to life. Apparently, some people waste their time pouring over biblical minutiae in order to convince themselves that something they don't agree with is of cosmic significance.

If the fundies continue down the path of their desires, eventually nobody will be able to read the bible anyway let alone be able to understand it. They're like senseless animals.

Love ya, Pule.

I encourage you to trust fully in Him, and not the economy.

God doesn't just drop things into the laps of the lazy, stupid or dishonest. "cursed [is] the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat [of] it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground"

Besides, that argument works just as well for not worrying about gay marriage, too. If God doesn't like gays, He can deal with them Himself. He doesn't need the RR lunatics' help.

He will provide for you, if you humble yourself and ask.

Tell that to all the good God-bothering fundamentalist Baptists who have prayed their asses off and are still unemployed.
