Evolutionists, do you perceive all human beings as equals?
Yes, but that stems less from my belief in evolution, and more to the fact that I believe everyone has some intrinsic value.
I’m sure you’ve heard people say that we are all created equal. But of course, you don’t like the idea of being created.
Arguments from semantics make Baby Jesus cry. You guys don't have the market cornered on creation. When a Mommy and a Daddy love each other very much, or get very drunk and have a big back seat, they *CREATE* a baby. Fancy that.
But anyways, are human beings all equals? I suppose most of you accept Social Darwinism, but doesn’t that create problems?
No, I don't. See, Social Darwinism has nothing to do with evolution whatsoever. It's a concept created by the rich to justify themselves clamping on the purse strings when asked to help those in need. "If they were more financially capable, they wouldn't need my help, ergo, they should rot...they're just a burden anyways."
When you think about it, the idea of evolution devalues human life. We have no real purpose, we’re just accidents.
So what? So we're just some cosmic accident. Why do you have to be center stage to matter to yourself? Why do you need someone or something to define your value. Make your own way. It's more rewarding.
So now it’s survival of the fittest. When you think about it, these are the ideas behind terrible things like Nazism.
Godwin. And the Nazis were claiming to do God's work. Nice try though.
The Nazis perceived disabled people as being worthless drains on society, so they killed them under agonizing conditions.
As opposed to people like you who feel they should be someone else's problem, and deny any responsibility to them, save as a talking point?
Evolution also supports sterilization, when the government sterilized people because they were not considered worthy of reproducing.
No it doesn't. The premise of natural selection is that if something bears unfit genes to survive, they will be weeded out NATURALLY. Sterilization is Artificial Selection...and flies in the face of evolution.
Evolution also makes abortion okay, and abortion is victimizing the weakest members of society.
See above, replace sterilization with abortion. Also, look up "appeal to emotion." It's a logical fallacy, for the record.
My brother is autistic. I have a great deal of compassion for helpless or disabled people, and I believe that we are all equals.
Then why do you define your brother by his disabilities. If you truly felt you were equals, it shouldn't even enter the equation. That's like the person saying he's not a homophobe...he has plenty of gay friends.
Do you see how the idea of evolution devalues human life?
No, I see how you need to have religion to make you feel special.
I am NOT an accident, and neither is my brother or anyone else considered to be inferior.
We all are. Deal with it.
We should all be treated like valuable human beings, even the helpless children in the womb...
And what about the womb carrying the child? Does she have value, too? If she finds out her child is going to be severely handicapped for life, should she not have the option to go "I can't deal with this. This will be unfair to both me and the child." Or should she bring a child into the world she's ill-prepared to care for, leaving the child without a chance, her at her wit's end, and everyone is suffering?
...but society with the help of evolution has been teaching us that we’re really just meaningless creatures that can be easily removed.
No, just that forcing people to adhere to a sect's morality is harmful as a whole. You say we devalue life? You guys say that a human's only as good as how much deity ass kissing he does. Nothing else s/he does in this life matters. Nothing. You claim we came from a little pile of dirt God decided to play in when he got bored. Hell, existence as we know it got whooshed in because God had nothing better to do. And as for how we don't value the "lessers," your own Bible says those who are handicapped are unfit to approach the altar, so...what's up with that?
