Portly
Jesus on his return:
"Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom". Mat. 16:28
About six days after this Jesus had the transfiguration, which seems to show his Kingdom, proving he is higher than the law and the prophets.
"But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God." -- Luke 9:27
Again...
"Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power." -- Mark 9:1
Again..this may also be a reference to Revelation, where John saw Jesus coming back in his vision.
"Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done." -- Mark 13:30
Before this, Jesus was talking about a fig tree and how it sprouts leaves. He says, when you see the tree sprout leaves, summer is near. The supposedly fufilled prophecy of this is 1948 or 1967, when Israel regained her home land. Supposedly, that generation will not pass away until his coming. This could also be a reference to Revelation, where John was having his vision in his generation.
"Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled." -- Luke 21:32
Again, see above
And others
"But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none." -- 1 Corinthians 7:29
The time is short, thats alll I see.
"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." -- 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (Note the "We")
Paul said "we" cause he though that he would be the generation to see the coming of Jesus. Obviously he was wrong.
"Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son...." -- Hebrews 1:2
We're in the last days, that's what it is saying...ok
"Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you." -- 1 Peter 1:20
Still saying we're in the last days...
"But the end of all things is at hand." -- 1 Peter 4:7
Portly, when he says the end of all things are at hand, don't expect it to be in their generation. These are from the prespective of writers, who, yes I'll admit, were bound to make mistakes and think the coming of Jesus was in their lifetime. What else could they think?
"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." -- 1 John 2:18
Yes, back then there were many antichrists, as there are now. We know it is the last time, but that does not mean it was in their generation.
"The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass. -- Revelation 1:1
Yes, shortly come to pass.
"Behold, I come quickly." -- Revelation 3:11, 22:7, 22:12
Again, this is God. The Bible says one thousand years to us is like one day to him. Technically, Jesus only left the earth two days ago. You also have to remember, the Bible says their is no time in heaven. Soon to heaven could be 2000 years to us. Who knows?
Anyways, if the apocalypse has already happened, what did I miss in history class about tons disappearing and huge hailstones, blood and Wormwood falling from the sky? Just asking.
The Bible said that the Gospel mustbe preached to the whole world before he comes back. Even now, the whole world dosen't know the Gospel.
