@ Katsuro: Interesting tidbit. A while back a Neothilic skeleton was found on a cave in the Cheddar Gorge, IIRC he was about 10K years old. They managed to get some DNA off it, and then later somebody else conducted an experiment comparing that to modern samples. Anyway, they turned up a guy who lived just a few miles away who, it turned out, was almost certainly a descendant of Cheddar Man (or at least of one of his immediate family). It's reckoned the basic genetic profile of the British Isles hasn't changed much since modern man first permanently settled here. Sure, there have been many immigrations, but none of them have ever involved a number of people of a large enough percentage of the existing population to make a fundamental difference.
@ #949161: Yeah, Matthews Family Values, innit.

White males? They're mostly Roman, so they're no indigenous, and they do seem to reproduce very fast.

@Psittacosis:
That's pretty cool.
Surely though the DNA in Britain has been diluted enough by all the Saxons, Vikings, Romans, Normans etc for it to be inaccurate to describe anyone here as ebing truely indigenous?

@ Katsuro: Oh, yes, no-one is wholly, or 'truly' indigenous. But the vast majority of us - including many people of apparently different ethnicity - could trace our ancestry back to the first settlers.

Mat
10 times is very excessive.
But one of the side effects of the lack of women's rights in the Islamic world is an extremely high birthrate, even after industrialisation (eg Saudi Arabia, Kuwait etc).
It is an issue which needs addressing (mostly due to the generational carryover of certain attitudes), but it must be addressed honestly and in good faith on both sides, without hiding behind euphemisms or using veiled terms.
