Try living on death row for a bit and see how you feel. Freaking liar.

Oh! Jennifer. We are all born atheists. Some unfortunately have parents who stupidly addle their children’s' brains with religion. My parents tried to do that. But I read lots of books and asked some difficult questions. There probably is no god. So relax and enjoy life.
So the silly 'I was an atheist' statement does not add any credibility to your delusions.

I read the source of this, and the one thing that tipped me off that she was never really an atheist (or was just deluding herself into thinking she was an atheist at least) was this extract:
"Somewhere in that part of my mind where primal truths too important for words reside was the knowledge that "I" was something more than just randomly evolved chemical reactions, that "I" was both body and eternal soul, that "I" had the opportunity to spend eternity in a place of perfect peace, and that to believe otherwise was the biggest mistake a person could ever make."
However if she was for real, then this disturbs me greatly. It's a story of how she comes to choose mindless happiness and comfort to the harsh reality that challenges us to be better. She's like the majority in "A Brave New World" who just take Soma (a mood lifting drug) instead of trying to think for themselves.
"With no eternal "self" or even "memory" beyond the grave, it would be as if we never existed. Sure, we would live on in people's memories, but all of humanity would one day be gone. And measuring by the universe's timescale, all life on earth -- let alone one human's life -- would not even amount to a blip on the radar screen."
Which is exactly why all humans must mobilize to be the best and most productive beings possible so that we might live on forever and become more than a mere "blip on the radar screen"! It is the weak-minded like you who hold us back!

"How on earth could I, a middle-class girl who's never even been to the county jail, have the faintest idea what a former death row penitentiary inmate was talking about?"
It's called sharing common humanity.
That's something that fundies have so little experience with that no wonder she was confused.

Wait, so you are saying atheists have a spirit of camaraderie and Christians don't?
I guess that's because of all the fundies who go around accusing other Christians of not being Christians. That would make a spirit of camaraderie a bit difficult.

What I have learned from this site
1 - everyone is born christian
2 - no true christian would ever convert to another religion or become an atheist
3 - Many current christians were atheists and/or satanists before converting because of some epiphany.
I am having trouble reconciling these facts.

Orion, interesting comment about Brave New World - have you read it? Because it's the atheists who take the soma, and the Christians who get put in a reservation. Thought that was funny.

So tell me lady. If as an Atheist, you're on death row. What does that make Jesus? The ultimate christian, who was on death row? Double death row doom?
It really pisses me off that because you are Christian, you claim the right to be a justified drama queen.

The author considers herself to be a "writer" and is supposedly publishing a "book" about her conversion experience (I guess someone forgot to tell her no one is publishing blogs anymore). Hence the high drama and faux profundity.
"Middle class" says it all. Just another bored, middle class housewife who can't figure out why comparing atheists to the kind of criminals who are sitting on death row is beyond offensive.
If she had truly been an atheist, she'd realize how un-Christian her words are, how self-aggrandizing, and how belittling and dehumanizing to atheists they are, but I suspect she was never an atheist and this is all a big put-on in order to create some kind of bogus angle she can use to peddle about her grindingly dull and exceedingly self-indulgent blog.

I should clarify: I should have said "if she was truly either once an atheist or now a Christian" in the comment above.
If you read more of her blog, you'll find she exhibits a frightening lack of empathy with anyone, atheist, agnostic or Christian. I don't really think she's much of anything. She's just another selfish, silly woman worshipping at the altar of her own ego.

Interesting comments. The christians say pretty much the same thing about individuals who leave the faith - "They were never REALLY christians". What is so terrible about changing your mind?

Nothing's terrible about changing your mind.
What's terrible is comparing atheists or non-Christians to serial rapists, child molestors and murderers. What's terrible is claiming to know the mind of God and to know that anyone who does not believe as she does is destined for eternal death wheras she, as the result of her "conversion" is now destined for eternal life, as this stupid woman does when she claims that being a non-believer is being on death row.
She has a vested interest in making these grandiose (and ridiculous) claim. It's all about the money for her.
Did you read the bits where the little pickaninny children come over to "Miz Jennifer's" and "heps the nice white lady wit' her chores"?
That part's a riot...

So you "believe" because you're afraid of death? Is that really a reason to believe in god? Because you can't face what is true?
