@?!?!
Yeah, we're so damned benevolent, we wiped out thousands of them with one bomb in one of the most atrocious acts of war in history.
Hardly considering what the japanese were doing themselves. The Japanese were "frankly horrific". We just don't remember them like the Nazis because they mainly killed a bunch of chinese, south east asians and indians. The usage of nukes hardly constitutes "atrocities" in WW2 considering the nature of what the Japanese were like.
Or are like now considering how UNAPOLOGETIC they are still. If germans were this unapologetic we would be throwing massive hissy fits.
@ Paler_Face
The civilians had everything to do with this. The japanese literally believed in a God Emperor and did what he said. The God emperor was running around going "We Will Fight The Allies With Pitchforks". In order to end the war a fairly untested (There were three nuclear weapons made, one was tested in the Manhattan Project, two were dropped. No one knew if they would all work...) The usage of nukes ended the war extremely quickly against an opponent who literally had no value of life. By making it seem that the USA had a lot of nuclear weapons rather than 2... (It would have taken more than 6 months to remake the material for more...)
Arguably if you really wanted to reduce casualties on both sides, nuclear weapons achieved that since it was a "HOLY CHRIST ON A STICK, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!!" moment in warfare history.
And indeed the Japanese literally were trying to hold out for as long as possible and make it seem "unfeasible" to attack Japan without large casualties which turned out to be dumb since Japan literally had very few technological advancements during the war instead putting its faith in "wonder weapons" cobbled together rather than "innovation". It was only the Nukes, the slow destruction of their forces by the brits in Asia and the sudden appearance of the collosal armed forces of russia that finally made them wise up to the fact that they were fighting not just the USA, but a very pissed off Britain with its massive colonies and an extremely angry USSR.
But No God is Seen in this at all. Its all tragedy hiding under the guise of religion in a lot of cases.
