You know, whenever I see people like this and Todd Bentley, I wonder whether or not they are people who are more than aware of the fact that they are complete loose canons, liable to be dangerous to themselves and others, and accept the religious answer almost as a homeopathic remedy for their destructive personalities. Of course, like homeopathy, it doesn't work at all, and they continue to behave appallingly. Just as suffers of epilepsy do not need an exorcist, perhaps people like this shouldn't feel that they have cured themselves of dysfunctional mental problems by accepting a religion. Perhaps real psychiatry could have prevented this, rather than fake psychiatry.

Somehow I doubt he'll get much of a punishment or even jail time. DUIs never do, no matter where you are from.
Here in the states we give out special car number plates to everyone in the same household as someone with a record of DWI/DUI - however they are only for a year and not many people know what they mean since they are only slightly different than a normal number plate - usually start with a different letter, no embarrassment factor there. Personally, I've been trying to pull some people together to make the plates more obvious - pink elephants, martini glasses, something like that and force these dumbasses to have to have them for the rest of their lives.

This sucks big time. The thing is, about 30 years ago when I was 18, drinking was legal. I got behind the wheel more than once when I shouldn't have. Luckily, I made it without hurting myself or anyone else. Not proud of it and I wouldn't even consider it now, but at 18 "nothin's gonna happen".
This kids life is ruined. Not to mention his family and the family of the victims.

It's attitude like that which allows people to rack up dozens of convictions without punishment. It is only a matter of time before an idiot who drinks and drives KILLS SOMEONE - Point blank it'll happen. I think anyone so stupid as to put their own lives at risk, much less the lives of others should be thrown in jail. If you have driven drunk/buzzed/high/whatever, you are a complete and udder idiot, fundie or not. Being a "kid" is no excuse for it either when lives are at risk. (Though, 18 hardly counts as a kid in my book.)
I think we're grasping at straws with this one. What he's written on his myspace is nothing that I haven't seen on hundreds of others. This is sad, but I don't see how his religion made him drink and drive, and I don't really think this is fundie at all.

Wobbly: 18 is old enough to know it's a stupid thing to do, and to make the decision to NOT do it. His age doesn't make this in any way forgivable, or less tragic.
I've been out drinking before and gotten plastered. Who hasn't? But every single time, someone sober drove me home. Every time. And that's including the times I "only had a couple".

Mohamed was a rising star cardiologist, and Morgan was a nurse's aide moving into education and social work. This stuff was written long before he killed the two people. He was DUI, underage, I believe the SUV was his grandfathers (?) that he took without permission. When he killed the people, he ran for the water leaving the two young girls stuck in the car. They set the dogs on him (Damn I wish they did that more often) which stopped him.
I guess what pisses me off, is the number of these happening in the lower mainland. Seems like every murderer around is a "good christian". This one just happened to have a quick link to it. Also aren't the RR folks claiming that lack of religion is what makes kids evil?
As my spouse pointed out, Christianity seems to be moving into a position where you can be as evil as you want because all you have to do is say the magic words and you're off the hook. The idea of living a Christ-like life seems to be as quaint as iced tea on the front porch.
Oh, and he disabled his facebook account, I'm assuming he will disable this (or his lawyer will) when he gets a chance.

He got hammered and fucking killed two people, you dumb bitch! How the hell can you still be supportive of him? Some things are just unforgivable, even if those things weren't intentional.
To make this tragedy even worse. In Canada, he'll probably get a few hours of community service and have his driver's license revoked for a year or so. I'd be willing to bet my life savings that the only aspect of the situation he's sorry about is that he got caught.
It's situations like this that make me wish there was a god and that eternal damnation in hell was a real prospect.
IMHO anyone in this day and age who kills someone because of driving drunk and who leaves the scene is a pimple on the ass of humanity. Way not to take responsibility for your actions you selfish bastard.
Just to be fair here:
He's not charged with a full-blown DUI. He's charged with Impaired Driving , which in the U.S. is a lesser charge than DUI. (I don't know how it works under Canadian law.)
Under the law in most U.S. states (which British Columbia is not), you are automatically considered to be driving illegally if you've had so much as a tablespoon of beer if you're under the legal drinking age.
This is one of those cases where truth is stranger than fiction. The more I hear about this guy, the more I hate- in fact, I would never have thought such a situation possible. He's the perfect asshole.
He killed not one, but two intelligent, loving, caring people with bright futures ahead of them- and they were going to be engaged. He was drunk underage. He was driving while drunk underage. He stole his grandfather's car and drove it while drunk underage. He drove his stolen grandfather's car and drove it underage with two younger girls with him. I'm going to take a deep breath before going on.. it's just unfathomable...

I'm considered to be goth/punk, and I love life. Suck on that! I have more appreciation for it, and would never take someone's life, except in self defense. If I killed someone doing some stupid BS, I would probably go jump off a cliff, or just let myself be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law...
Edit: Also, my boyfriend drives me when I am drunk. He is 20 and will not drink at all if he is driving, not even a glass of wine at dinner.

And this is why I have always been glad that my parish's pastor has a PhD in psychology. He knows when to call in therapy and pharmacology.
