how much remorse do you feel, then, when you kill a paramecium?

When fundies start a campaign to make stepping on ants or using antibiotics illegal, I'll start believing that they are unselfishly looking at life with reverence.
12/24/2006 6:47:05 PM
And don't forget all the spores you kill by clapping your hands! From now on, just give a mole-friendly thumbs up.
12/24/2006 10:56:08 PM
I just have to call this dude out on his spelling error. Otherwise I will not sleep.
Anyways, if he truly feels that way, then he should stop using Lysol and anti-bacterial soap.
12/24/2006 11:26:23 PM
and yet you're immune system kills invading bacteria all the time. if you can get rid of a bacterium why can't I get rid of a zygote?
10/20/2007 10:16:24 PM
Ansem the Wise
Its being 'life' has nothing to do with it. No one's debating that a zygote, embryo, or foetus isn't alive. Dumbass.
10/20/2007 10:31:46 PM
When a man ejaculates, several million sperm are released. One survives, the others die. Is he still guilty of genocide?
10/20/2007 10:39:35 PM
PROTIP: a "one-celled baby" is not a baby.
10/20/2007 11:27:27 PM
I would just like to point out that the ANTI-abortion argument is that life---in any form---shouldn't be killed.
And we see the numerous problems with this in the comments. What the question is is this: Is it somehow immoral? I'm sure you don't think it's immoral to kill an amoeba.
And that means you debunked your own argument. *Gives a mold-friendly thumbs up.*
10/20/2007 11:51:34 PM
Is it murder to kill an ameoba then?
10/20/2007 11:59:25 PM
No one doubts that a single celled organism is alive. The issue is with whether or not an activated egg constitutes a human being. Here's a good rule of thumb: It doesn't.
1/5/2008 12:24:57 PM
If God cared about life wouldn't He have given women a uterus that actually didn't expel ~50% percent of fertilized eggs?
1/5/2008 12:32:16 PM
So wait... does this mean amoeba and paramecium are humans? Do they get civil rights too? Can they vote? Is it murder to kill one?
1/5/2008 3:23:18 PM
I agree with your analysis of your hallucination.
1/5/2008 4:22:55 PM
So by that logic, killing paramecium is evil. Do you wish to pass a law banning the killing of single-celled organisms in general?
1/5/2008 4:27:54 PM
Of course it's alive. So what?
1/5/2008 4:28:29 PM
Alive, certainly. Conscious, no. Human, of course. A "human being" or "person"? FUCK NO.
1/5/2008 6:34:24 PM
But a one celled baby could grow into a human. It shouldn't be obliterated lightly. A one celled paramecium will never grow. Plus it's much, much smaller than a zygote. Much smaller. And size is very important in this sorta thing, y'know?
Anyway, Pro-life is about preserving human life. Human life. If a zygote is terminated before it's considered human, a life that would have continued if not interfered with is ended. Something that would become human was alive and has been killed. That is what is being objected too.
I would like to point out that some of the comments on this page could be considered for the site. Particularly Lithp's assertion that Anti-Abortion is about saving the bacterium.
1/6/2008 3:55:05 AM
But a one celled baby could grow into a human.
There is no such thing as a "one celled baby".
1/6/2008 11:30:11 AM
one called Baby
ooh Baby Baby
a man called Horse
call me Ishmael
don't call me late for dinner
1/6/2008 11:58:03 AM
@Niobe: What, you dare question the awesome perfectness of God's creation? Blasphemy!!
1/6/2008 3:41:47 PM
That should be "so-called baby."
1/6/2008 3:45:03 PM
No aqualung it's obviously God's revenge to that bitch ass whore Eve for defying him.
