Wow, one post and now I am "them"? Gabe's internet law in full effect.
For those of you who don't pay attention to other's usernames, mine refers to the fact I have a chronic pain condition due to being a survivor of domestic violence.
In my state if you are single, white, and not preggers then you can't apply for dick unless you have less than $1,000 in assets. Considering that rent for a one bedroom here goes for about $800, it takes 2 months for them to process your paperwork, I wonder what the hell you are supposed to do in the meantime. If you would like an example of how fucked up the system is, I'd be happy to send you the rejection letter I received from the state saying that the $2k I had in an IRA at the time meant I was to "rich" to buy (meaning pay a monthly premium, not get free) into the state health care program. Do you know what they told me? Take out the IRA, pay the penalties and buy a new or bigger television... If I was joking, I couldn't even come up with something that stupid, that is word for word one of the suggestions from the letter.
I used to be gunho on a lot of things, but let me tell you it looks a hell of a lot different on this side of "hard times" - that meaning programs I paid for before which tell me I've been too responsible to receive help. Planned Parenthood is about the only place that doesn't punish you for living within you means or doesn't tell you they "can't wait until you're completely broke" because then you'd get better medical care. I can't see why the woman next door with 5 kids gets better healthcare than me, because I haven't squeezed any out. Her kids should get care, yes, but why should she get better?
As for telling me I'm using talking points, I speak from what exactly I see around here. As for using the term "worship" - hell, I was in an online game chat last night and a group of women were praising him to that extreme because they are so excited about getting their mortgage paid for, but none of them can figure out where the money is really coming from. I didn't feel like I dare say anything, but they sure seemed to think Obama was using his own money to save them... I guess I don't know a better word for such fanatical feelings, if someone has one I'll gladly use it instead.
Point blank, you have to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. Let me tell you, it is a real eye opener here.
