People are born with all kinds of illnesses, mutated genes, etc because since the fall, our chromosomes have been slowly becoming more and more affected by sin.

...our chromosomes have been slowly becoming more and more affected by sin.
If I spent the rest of my life searching, would I find a doctor, who wasn't indulging in heroic doses of hallucinogens, that would support your assertion?
...Sin isn't a physical substance. I know I consider it to be just a synonym for "corruption", but that's not the same sort of corruption one would ascribe to disease. Murder, enslavement, &c are quite a bit more than just pathogens, after all...
I love this...sin has mutated from an action the church does not condone to this...permeating force...like radiation or something. So...obviously, since accepting Jesus cleanses one of sin, true believers never get cancer, sick, or have deformed children, yes?
So mutations are real? Then evolution is a fact, yes?
Oh, snap. You guys aren't supposed to believe in mutations. Or maybe, mutations allow for variation, and those variations build up over time, causing new species to emerge, but it's NOT EVOLUTION!!! EVILUTION IS A LIE!!!!11111112345
So, the *reason* that the average lifespan is up to 30 years longer now, thousands of years in sin, fail and evil, than in the god-fearing dark ages is...?
How can a chromosome, a biological structure within a cell, be affected by sin, A FUCKING ABSTRACT CONCEPT?
@Reckoner
And even when they believe in evolution, it's only MICROevolution, like when bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics, but not MACROevolution where a dog grows wings, or a fish gives birth to a horse. Mind you, you can tell them until you're blue in the face that neither of them is evolution...one is Pokemon, and the other is a miracle...but you must eventually resign to the fact that a true Christian will always know better than you what you truly know, believe or feel.
more like parents disconnect, amirite
yeah, nothin' like punishing those that had nothing to do with it, I hope your children are born fucked up
It's funny. Creationists say human kind is getting more and more debased and our very genetic structure is falling about.
You know what I see? People are living longer, living healthier, and we are actually evolving faster then we were in the past.
so that is why the human expectancy has decreased so much in the last 2000 years
NOT
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_expectancy
Classical Rome 20-30
Pre-Columbian North America 25-35
Medieval Islamic Caliphate 35+
Medieval Britain 20-30
Early 20th Century 30-40
Current world average 66.12 (2008 est.)
Mutations are caused by sin? Therefore sins are radiation, oxidants, teratogens, carcinogens and replication errors which aren't fixed?
Now someone's going to argue that life expectancies have been increasing since Jesus's time, and that proves this assertion ... *sigh*
@davros: Medieval Britain had the same life expectancy as Classical Rome? That seems ... questionable, considering the sanitation differences. (And where the heck do they get numbers for pre-Columbian America at *all*? That sounds awfully low...)
So sin is a disease, and, let me guess, jesus is the cure? So, how do we "take" jesus? Does he come in a pill? Or do we need an IV?
Yeah, 'knowing' that some person thousands of years ago ruined things for all mankind makes me feel a whole lot better about the PCOS and depression I inherited from my parents. Honestly, why is it better that God could do something but doesn't than for these things to be a natural result of biology? What is it with people wanting a reason for every last thing?
Confused?
