Quote# 59817

February 24, 2009, New York, NY – The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) today urged media to turn a spotlight on anti-gay remarks made by Colorado State Senator Scott Renfroe on February 23, 2009, during a Senate debate over a bill that would allow gay and lesbian state employees to share health benefits with their partners.

According to The Denver Post, Renfroe stated that "homosexuality is seen as a violation of this natural creative order, and it is an offense to God." He continued ". . . When we create laws that go against what biblically we are supposed to stand for, I think we are allowing to go forward a sin that should not be treated by government as something that is legal. We are taking sins and making them legally OK."

Darwin's Lil' Girl

See, the problem with fairy tales is that if we were to take:

(1) Snow White as truth, we wouldn't trust little old ladies selling apples

(2) Peter Pan as truth, we wouldn't trust amputees

(3) Pinoccio as truth, we wouldn't trust cetaceans

(4)Hanzel and Grettle as truth, we wouldn't trust women who owned cottages

(5) The Bible as truth, we wouldn't trust anyone who wasn't wearing cloth.

"This is why I want to go to England."

England has a very good chance of being under Sharia Law in 25 years unless the people there grow some balls and do something about their home-grown Islamist wackos who are dedicated to implementing Sharia Law there. The fundies in England are more dangerous, psychotic, and violent than ours. Watch Pat Condell's commentaries if you think England is such a great place these days. Also, they have the same economic problems that we have.

The scary thing is that if you point this out (as I have done here on FSTDS), you get any number of apologists pointing out that we already have Beth Din courts in the UK etc etc.

In the The (London) Times recently a leading Muslim was quoted as saying they expected some criminal cases to be tried under Sharia Law soon. Even if you agree (and I don't) that civil law is whatever women can be beaten into accepting one country having two or more two criminal law systems is wrong. Full stop. One criminal law for all must be the basis of a just society.

If you're a Muslim and you want to live under Sharia law, move out of the UK. If you're a UK subject of the Muslim persuasion happy to accept the law of the land, stay here and be welcome. But I don't care whether you were born here or not, if you have contempt for the Magna Carta Libertatum you'd be happier living somewhere else. The relevant section reads:

NO Freeman shall be taken or imprisoned, or be disseised of his Freehold, or Liberties, or free Customs, or be outlawed, or exiled, or any other wise destroyed; nor will We not pass upon him, nor condemn him, but by lawful judgment of his Peers, or by the Law of the Land. We will sell to no man, we will not deny or defer to any man either Justice or Right

Then, don't forget the twenty-six 'Lords Spiritual' who have an automatic right to a seat in the House of Lords on the basis that they talk to an invisible friend at a higher level than the grunts. Currently they're all Church of England, though Rabbi Immanuel Jakobovits and the Archbishop of Argyle were Lords at one time (Cardinal Basil Hume refused, apparently). And then there's the remainder of the House, either political appointees or there because their great-great-great-great-great grandfather stole more sheep than anyone around him. Bring on the elected Second House. Rant over.

Essentially, the whole system needs a complete overhaul but the basic principles are sound.

PS: And I agree with CatAnon, everyone should look up Pat Condell on YouTube. You won't all agree with him I'm sure, but you won't be wasting your time either. A true libertarian, and funny with it (in a very dry, British sort of way).

The way I see it is this. If Gay people get chopped due to the bible one of us will be next.

I mean from gay its just a short jump to "muslims, hindus, buddhists" and a even shorter jump to atheists.

So we will defend them. Before there is no one else to speak up for us.

Actually the "sharia law" thing in the UK was primarily done because people accept jewish law in things such as property rights. Sharia law can be applied as something for that. But not for something like Divorce Laws and indeed things like Criminal laws. Most of that is scare mongering usually from the Sun and the Daily Mail who like such scaremongering.

Here we go again...to quote myself

The scary thing is that if you point this out (as I have done here on FSTDS), you get any number of apologists pointing out that we already have Beth Din courts in the UK etc etc.

Bollocks. That said, Beth Din law should be as unconstitutional as Shariah Law should be.

Here's a quote from The Times, arguably the most respected newspaper in Britain,

Sheikh Faiz-ul-Aqtab Siddiqi said he expected the (Shariah) courts to handle a greater number of “smaller” criminal cases in coming years as more Muslim clients approach them

'As more Muslim clients approach them'? What? You can decide for yourself what criminal law should apply to you in the UK now based on which invisible friend you claim to have? That's an appalling state of affairs for a supposed democracy. If I had my way I'd have that quote hung on London Bridge, in sight of Parliament.

I've only quoted from The Independent and The Times, neither of which are right-wing tabloids. I have as much contempt for The Scum and the Daily Heil as you do, probably more, but that doesn't make the pandering to Islam we see every day in the UK any less untrue. Brown knows he can't win a general election without the Muslim vote (and believe me, a good proportion of them vote for who they're told to under the threat of a big stick).

Brown's just pandering to the so-called 'Muslim Council of Britain' (so-called because no-one votes for anyone on it, you have to be invited onto it and it's completely undemocratic)

You've won me. Show me where in the Bible it says only heterosexuals should get partner health benefits, and I'll back you 100%.
Otherwise, we should support your opponent.

EDIT: The link to the opponent above is broken; check yoursleves if you have the opportunity to raise the vote against that imbecile.

It's a relief to see someone else who knows what's going on over there and is as concerned about it as I am.

What the fuck is going on in Colorado?

Hmm, working on the sabbath is a sin.

Worshipping other gods before God is a sin.

When can we expect those to be outlawed?

Didn't this newspaper just go out of business, anyway?
