Quote# 59873

If there are other civilizations on other worlds we would never know it. They wouldn't be allowed to have and contact with us. We are a fallen people, and I don't think God would allow cross contamination.

When the first extrasolar planet (51 Pegasi b, now called "Bellerophon") was discovered in 1995, I remember seeing an article in my local paper dealing with a statement by a Catholic Archbishop. The Archbishop said that if there was intelligent life on this newly-discovered planet, they would have souls in need of saving.

The next week, a Catholic Cardinal denounced this statement, saying that they didn't know if Original Sin would have happened on that other planet or not.

This led to speculation about the nature of an alien species that had never experienced Original Sin. Since Death was not introduced until Original Sin occurred, the aliens would be unkillable! Woe to us if they decided to invade.

The surest sign there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

You'd expect this kind of bullshit from RR, but he thinks that aliens exist, so he won't be at RR for long.

Well, I guess that's one solution to the Fermi paradox.

I suppose that's one explanation for the Fermi paradox.

"We are a fallen people"

And you're projecting. Get some self-confidence and stop blaming a fairy tale for your ineptness.

C.S. Lewis wrote something like that, I think the book was called "the lone planet".
Other species were incapable of perceiving humans because of the original sin.

What, Aliens pinch apples too. Jesus has to go through the whole nailed to a tree thing again?.
For every one of the likely trillions of sentient species in the universe?

>>"...I don't think God would allow cross contamination."

Which wouldn't be a problem anyway, since if we ever did meet space aliens, we probably wouldn't be able to mate with them (despite what Macross would suggest, but then no fundie's ever seen that anyway).
