Question : My Pastor Told Us The Constitution Needs To Be Changed So That An Atheist Can't Be Elected. Does Ya'll Agree?

Answers----------------------------------------------

southernangel_319 : I agree 100%. This country was founded on religion, and today there are so many people trying to take that away, wipe God out. I'm just glad I am not one of them. In the end, they will be sorry.

Kheli : I think that is the best idea I've heard in a long time. I think I'll bring it up at my Women's committee meeting. This nation was born in Christianity, and we've let far too much happen that's out of Jesus' word. The homosexuality, the Arabs, the sin.

Thanks hun, that's just an excellent talking point for next week.

The homosexuality, the Arabs, the sin.

...the rather less successful sequel to "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"?

There are Christian Arabs, you know.

This is, what your Pastor said:
"The Constitution Needs To Be Changed So That An Atheist Can't Be Elected."

This is, what your Pastor wanted to say:
"The Constitution Needs To Be Changed So That Only Bible Fearing WASPs Can Be Elected."

Of course, we must change the constitution to protect the ideas America was founded on. It's so obvious.

3/1/2009 7:23:28 AM

a mind far far away

Does Ya'll Agree?

No, I does no agree. I also does no agree with y'alls grammer.

This country was founded on religion

I thought it was founded on freedom, justice, and democracy. But I guess my liberal ideas are wrong.

This nation was born in Christianity

I didn't know a religion could birth a nation. That's one funny image right there.

and we've let far too much happen that's out of Jesus' word

I thought Jesus said more than one word, at least in my bible.

the Arabs

Damn those Arabs. We shouldn't have let them in. Nor those Chinese, Japanese, other East Asians, Mexicans, Canadians, or Europeans. Wait, what? We weren't here first? We stole the land from another people? Well fuck me, I'll be damned.

Actually, this country was founded on Freemasonry if it was founded on anything. Now, it's true that in order to be a Mason you have to believe in some god; it's also true that inside Masonic lodges and meetings, any proselytizing or discussion of one's own religion is strictly forbidden. Most of the men who founded our country were members of an organization, therefore, which recognized religion but felt it was a private matter best kept out of forums dedicated to the free exchange of ideas.

The homosexuality, the Arabs, the sin... oh my! It scares me that there are entire committees of women out there who will sit in their air-conditioned circle of contoured plastic chairs nodding in agreement with this.

The whole point of American freedom is that people different than us shouldn't be treated as inferior just because we disagree. Why is it okay to try to silence atheists (and sometimes gays), but not blacks or Jews?

IT IS NEVER OKAY.

And you know what the worst part of it is? You fundies claim that it's us--the liberals--who hate American freedom! You're the ones who hate freedom, and want to cut it off! You make me sick.

Edit: It cures my nausea, however, to note that the vast majority of responses were a resounding "No." Also, the answer chosen by the asker was also "No," so I think he may have been conveying the words of his pastor without endorsing them/kidding/trolling/a Poe.

I love that the asker was just a Christian/Poe expressing something stupid that their Pastor said to see if anyone was stupid enough to agree.

Because these 2 answers are about as stupid an answer as one can get to that question.

I want to write a question that will get ya'll to say things I can post on FSTDT. This seems like a good one, what do ya'll think?

Just so you guys know, the question is a poe, the answers, unfortunately, are not.

Almost all the questions have been poes doomie...and many of the answers too. I'm through approveing any quotes at all from yahoo answers. They will all be getting my instant delete vote from now on.

It has turned into one big troll pit...nothing has been submitted from there in weeks that wasn't a troll or response to a troll. I'm sick of it.

(not to mention the at least 200 quotes from Losasha I have voted to delete from there already.)

The "y'all" in the Question saya it all. The mind and conscience of s/angel's correspondent is his/her pastor. But the ignorance of the Constitution is abysmal. Perhaps it should be made a matter of public examination so that if people are unaware of national history and the documents that lay down how the US is to be governed should forfeit the vote.

As to the country being founded on religion, er...NO. The Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11. And isnt there a requirement that no religious test shall ever be applied?

Somehow I feel that southernangel would be happier in Iran which is a theocracy. Perhaps a scheme could be worked out whereby such people could be specially rendered there?
