Why I hate Atheists.
Because they ALWAYS change their tunes on their deathbeds like the p.u.s.s.i.e.s they are. I respect them more if they stood their ground - what, you're gonna let the slight possibility of eternal hellfire, change your mind??? A guy I know was chief surgeon in a New England hospital, and says he never met a dying atheist - figures - they're all fraidy cat hotos.

Ahhh...the famous "I know a guy" story. Very comparable to the "My friend has this cousin who says.." and "My sisters friends hairdresser told her that...". They are all equally credible, which is to say that they aren't, not at all. Have your 'chief surgeon' friend post directly to share his experience or STFU you liar.
there's no shame in being a coward, and being aware of the possibilities. there is shame in being absolutely certain of something your whole life. don't some christians doubt on their deathbeds? i would think so.
and anyway, why not take advantage of the neat little system you've got set up there-live the life a heathen, and repent just before death, and all is good. sounds like your god isn't very smart, there.
I like Voltaire: "However, soon he became ill again and Voltaire died on 30 May 1778. When asked on his deathbed by a priest to renounce the devil and turn to God, he is alleged to have replied, "Now is no time to be making new enemies". His last words are said to have been, "For God's sake, let me die in peace.""

These are just some of the well known/historical personages that were atheists, and didn't recant on their death beds. So much for 'always'. And have you been alive for so many years that you have been at the bedside of every atheist that was dying? I don't think so. As for being afraid to die, even you silly fundies are afraid, worried that you didn't flog yourselves enough to get the golden ticket.
The worst thing about this is that if he met an atheist who died without converting, his tune would be: "They cling so DOGMATICALLY to their beliefs! They are so CLOSED-MINDED, they don't listen to REASON!" They will shout about anything.
Really? That's what you think? First you need to understand the 'history' of hell. Second, what I think is that a decent god will understand if I couldn't believe in it based on the evidence I have. If it's so incredibly petty like humans are, then it doesn't deserve my attention anyway.

Does it happen? Probably, but nowhere near as much as always. But I wasn't aware that you knew every atheist who ever lived. That's a pretty neat trick.
Prove it. Names, dates, who conducted this study, for how long, and the sample group or you're a fucking liar.
Cling to your fantasy if you like, but the atheists I know who have died did so without mention of any god, despite being quite sick and in considerable pain. They were focused on the families and friends they were leaving behind, not your inadequate sky-fairy.
Even if there was such a thing as hellfire, how can it hurt you? When you die, you leave your physical body behind, and that includes your nervous system. Nothing can hurt you once you're dead.

They have this thing about physical manifestation. They believe the true miracle of resurrection lies in the restoration of a physical form. It's not enough for them to spend an eternity bathed in everlasting love. They want to enjoy the things they denied themselves in their mortal form.
On a similar note they want us clothed in rotting flesh, for eternity, so we experience the "divine" punishment they masturbate to every night.

Arthur C. Clarke. Next question.
"Why I hate Atheists."
Why I hate Right-wing Fundamentalist Christians: Because they're not Unitarian Universalists, Quakers, Amish, Buddhists, Sufi Muslims, and other religions who are non-judgemental, hyper-tolerant, never proseltyse nor insinuate themselves into politics (i.e. lobbying the GOP) and generally keep themselves to themselves.
