*Obama lifting ban on Stem Cell Research*

More proof that our President has an agenda to ban any iota of morality left in this country. This country is sick with sin, and many are still in their sin induced coma. Mr. Obama, may the Lord have mercy on you, and may you yet come to repentance. I shudder to think this man is leading us. I will say it again, he is NOT MY president. It becomes more difficult each day to celebrate being an american. Instead, I mourn for the greatness of this country that was.

Thinking Allowed

Those over at RR will say that until one of them could end up benefiting such research. I have to wonder if they will support it then, or still have the same attitude they have now?

Jeff Weskamp

If cells are people, then I guess a man commits several million murders every time he "facilitates himself."

Embryonic stem cell research was never banned. Not that it matters because EMBRYONIC stem cell research never worked to begin with. Adult stem cell research, on the other hand, works almost every time.

You'd think with the economy going down the tubes, Obama would spend federal money on something that's actually helpful.

@ #921863

I'm sorry, but that's just not true. Adult stem cells are wonderful, and they hold a lot of promise, but saying that because we have adult stem cells, that we don't need embryonic stem cells just isn't true. Part of the reason that adult stem cells are more effective at moment is because they've been able to get funding recently. The federal requirements about not funding research for embryonic stem cells was so strict that many labs gave up because it was just too hard to distinguish between equipment bought by the government and equipment bought with private funds.

Adult stem cells are great, and should be pursued, but embryonic stem cells are important, too. They are going to be used for different purposes than adult stem cells and they are more versatile.

So if you get MS or something that could be cured by stem cell research, you'll refuse treatment right?

Didn't think so.

3/10/2009 1:53:06 PM

Dio Fa

Think of it this way: your president, halfwit that he is, banned the very research that might have saved his hero (and hero to most of you fundtards), Ronald Reagan.

Let what else where the fundies against
Blood transfusion

Open Heart surgery

and organ transplants
Where all considered at one time or another to be wrong and against the will of Jeuse or god a violation open hart surgery was even considered to be such heinous act and a like spitting in the face of god that it should be illegal to perform them .
But go head cleave to ancient bronze age magic book .

god get all cooll wiht open heart surgy . b
Organ transplant were vile and unethically a coplet ervoitionof th will of god and should nver be allowed.
And now it stem cell research . I bet you these asshole who are against will have asvosly no problems to seek the life aveing operation or bpordaced that this research may very lead to .

What if the stem cells come from Egyptian babies? Your Magic Sky Daddy doesn't seem to have a problem killing them, why should you?

By the way, this country is not so much sick with sin as it is sick... of... YOU!

3/10/2009 2:02:59 PM

To paraphrase a favorite false claim of theirs, "There are no anti-stem-cell patients dying in hospital beds."

3/10/2009 2:16:10 PM

Adult stem cell research, on the other hand, works almost every time.
Hehe, sounds like you know what you're talking about.

3/10/2009 2:18:45 PM

And Ann Coulter has the guts to say the liberals are treasonous when they disagree with the president... I'd like to see her face now.

3/10/2009 2:21:28 PM

I don't see you sobbing over all the poor widdle embryos that "die" when they're not implanted at fertility clinics.

3/10/2009 2:27:19 PM

Sorry for posting again, but this is just so stupid! An embryo can't become a fetus and then be born unless it implants. I mean, by their logic, sexually active women should mourn their periods every month!

Tolpuddle Martyr

Cherished, your government may not work the same way as mine but we do have something in common. We get to pick our government, its called democracy, D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y, roll that lovely word around in your mouth a few times. It means you, your neighbors and your countrymen get to pick your leaders. Once picked they are your leaders, no question - so he is your President, that is the reality sweetheart! Still, over there on RR your aquaintance with reality is somewhat distant at best.

3/10/2009 2:38:59 PM

Oh yes he is your president. You cannot escape!

3/10/2009 2:43:17 PM

News for you guys: Your brand of morality isn't the only one there is, believe it or not. The embryos used for stem cell research don't even have anything that resembles organs, let alone consciousness. Isn't it better that these balls of cells go to some higher purpose (like giving someone who does have organs and consciousness a life that may approach normal especially as compared to what state their disease would leave them in) than to just be destroyed in another unproductive way or just due to sitting in the freezer for too long?

3/10/2009 3:00:37 PM

@Dio Fa, I agree and so did Nancy Reagan. If I remember right after she watched her husband suffer she went and spoke on behalf of stem cell reasearch.

I'm sure Cherished would take any help that was made possible by stem cells if it were he or his family.

3/10/2009 3:22:39 PM

Obviously our tax dollars are better spent blowing people up in our two concurrent wars then finding ways to save people's lives.

3/10/2009 3:25:33 PM

Because doing research on cells that fertility clinics were going to THROW IN THE TRASH ANYWAY is soooooo much less moral.

3/10/2009 3:44:28 PM

Old Viking

Ever see a picture of a cell, Cherished? They are very, very, very tiny. They are not human beings. (The only exception is one picture I saw that showed a cell wearing a top hat and tails.)

3/10/2009 3:48:25 PM

...In spite of the fact that they are immoral harlots, deserving of scorn and contempt at best if they so much as look at a man, let alone get knocked up. Makes buckets o' sense, doesn't it?

3/10/2009 3:52:55 PM

It's people like you that put us here.

3/10/2009 4:12:04 PM

Stem cells don't mean more dead babies just less medical waste.

Holy Fuck! That was a nasty Atheistical response!

I must be a total degenerate (like they know what that is) and I'm doomed to everlasting fire (like they know what that is) for being arrogant and disrespectful (like they know what that is)

3/10/2009 4:32:31 PM

That was me up there

Can't get used to this not recognizing me
