Quote# 60493

Atheists did you know happiness is a Christian concept?

So for all the atheists who claim to be happy I have news for you: Happiness and the concept of happiness was first mentioned in the Bible. Therefore, it is a concept originated by Christianity. Adam and Eve were happy in the Garden of Eden until they broke GOD's law and ate from the tree of forbidden fruit.

Happiness = GOD
Unhappiness = rejection of GOD's laws= atheism

Get happy and get with the Good News!

Well, we're all familiar with Christians claiming to have invented everything good that was ever devised, but laying claim to inventing something that wasn't even invented? That's a new one on me.

Mihangel apYrs

It's not even funny now!

They've gone beyond stupid, ignorant, wilfully fundie, borderline insane, into the outer realms of "teh STOOPID"

How can they possibly breathe and walk at the same time? And why the fuck was breeding made such a primordial urge that they can still do it while being effectively braindead?!

I haven't laugh this much for some time. Thanks!

Epic, epic fail.

Honestly, there is no greater sign of insecurity in your belief than trying to convince others that it makes you inherently better, happier or more moral than other people. If I were going to decree a dogma for atheists, I would say that neither your belief, nor anyone else's make you inherently better than other people - the only measure of a man's moral worth is their actions.

However, if you think that you have reached the summit of moral behaviour simply by adopting a belief, wouldn't that cause you to become lazy and inconsiderate? I mean, why analyse your own behaviour if you already believe that you are automatically perfect?

(I know Christians often claim that they too are "filthy" sinners - I am not in the slightest bit impressed by that kind of pointless verbal self-flagellation)

...-opens mouth-

.......-closes it-

-keeps repeating-

.....I'm not even going to....no.

I'm happier now than when I was a Christian.

3/13/2009 2:20:00 AM

Whatever helps you feel good about yourself, dude.

But how do you explain why I was so miserable all those years as a christian, and when I finally broke free of it, it was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders? Why is there so much alcoholism in my generations-strong devoutly catholic family? Why is there so much domestic violence in religious homes? Every atheist I know has never laid a hand on their spouse or child. A happy person doesn't abuse the ones they love.

When I read the first line, it made me laugh pretty much. And now I'm confused.

3/13/2009 2:24:15 AM

... so being happy means I'm a god?

3/13/2009 3:10:41 AM

And yet Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle had a very real conception of happiness centuries before Christ.

Go figure.

Psychology Fail. Adam and Eve weren't Christians; they didn't even exist. Happiness was here long before your goat-fucking religion and it will be here long after.

3/13/2009 3:43:38 AM

Oh, for fucks sake.

Atheist in a foxhole

You really are an idiot.

3/13/2009 4:48:09 AM

So everybody was depressed until there were christians?

3/13/2009 5:07:33 AM

Dan Onymous

Adam and Eve were Christians...?

"If a man speaks with a pure thought, happiness follows him like a shadow that never leaves him."

"Happiness never decreases by being shared."

Buddha 563BC-483BC

Adam and Eve couldn't have been too happy or they wouldn't have gone looking for knowledge, and been tempted so easy.

3/13/2009 5:25:42 AM

"the concept of happiness was first mentioned in the Bible."

Epoch fail!

3/13/2009 5:29:33 AM

David B.

Wouldn't that mean that slavery, murder, rape, war, witchcraft and human sacrifice were Christian concepts too?

3/13/2009 5:29:55 AM

So why are so many Christians unhappy? And what about non Christians who aren't an atheist? And what about the people who aren't Christian but quite happy

3/13/2009 5:43:45 AM

God Bless everyone here for their comments. I may not respect you, but I respect your right to say what's on your mind, even if it isn't worthy of resect and it is anti-Bibleish.

Wait, aren't you guys the ones convinced that you're all horrible sinners that deserve to go to hell?

3/13/2009 6:21:45 AM

I wouldn't be happy with my imagination poisoned like that.

I'll pass on your omnibenevolent bloodlusting goblin, thanks.
