JEDDAH: A member of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice barged into a women’s professional training center in Al-Sultana district of Madinah, chasing after a young woman who went into the center to escape the pursuing man.
According to police, the commission member saw the woman in a car with a young man. The man was arrested on khulwa (illegal seclusion) charges, but the woman fled into the center, hoping the commission member would not pursue her.
Eyewitnesses said the commission member pushed his way into the center, grabbed the woman by her hair and dragged her out.

Holy shit! They actually punished the man!
But to be honest. He's going to get a slap on the wrist and the women is going to receive 70 lashes, six months in prison, and then exile.
I think someone's Word of the Day calendar scrambled "promotion" and "prevention".
Seriously, though, is there any way we can put these guys into those full-body burkas instead of the women? I'm seeing that someone in this situation needs blinders at the very least and it isn't this poor woman.
When will these back-asswards ruffians figure it out that women are more interesting when they're not slaves... then again, everyone would be more interesting if they didn't willfully enslave themselves to religions. I can't even listen to my dad for 5 minutes because he pumps so mush horse-shit into everything he says.
Will someone explain to me again why the Saudis are our friends? Saudis committed 911 and they're arguably the most ass-backward nation on the planet and yet were best mates with them instead of bombing them back into 'shock and awe'.
Oh, they have lots of oil, you say.
That's OK then.
the women is going to receive 70 lashes, six months in prison, and then exile.
That says it all about the mindset, doesn't it? Exile alone "solves" their problem, but they can't just throw someone out without stealing a chunk of her life and hurting her first, can they?
Retributionary justice is nothing but childish revenge and has no place in civilisation.
What really pisses me off about this shit is that if the same treatment and restrictions were placed on any other group, say Jews or Hindus, or people of a minority race in those countries, the world wouldn't stand for it and we'd be breaking off diplomatic ties, imposing sanctions, etc. But, hey, it's only women, so, meh....It's just "cultural", too bad for them. We'll just "suggest" they ease up a little on their chattel.
Enver Hoxha banned religion in Albania. Right idea, wrong country.
The Mutawwa should be shot, and Wahhabiism in Saudi Arabia replaced with Sufism - with only a secular government (consisting solely of Atheists). Here is the prime reason why theocracies have NO right to exist.
We are bombing the wrong countrys.
Instead of destroying a progressive secular nation like Iraq, We should have invaded Saudi Arabia.... A country that actualy needs to be liberated.
Heres a plan; Withdraw from Iraq.
Appologise for murdering fully half of their population.
Blame fundamentalism for the attrocity.
Fund their reconstruction.
And then feed them intel on Saudi troop dispositions untill they have a population base to build an army again.
Sit back and watch as Iraq deals with saudi arabia in the most appropriate manner.
And this is the country the Bush Administration bowed before... It's depressing, isn't it?
On another note, I seriously wonder if these people are aware of how damaging stuff like this is to the worlds view of their religion.
...and in other news from the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice a seventy-five year old woman was sentenced to four months imprisonment, forty lashes and deportation for having her bread delivered by an unrelated man.
Heck, that's worth it's own thread.
"the commission member pushed his way into the center, grabbed the woman by her hair and dragged her out. "
Islam is still living in the pleistocene
@tracer
Thing is that woman isn't going to hallucinate that some random passerby is a monster and attack.
Or cause a car wreck.
Or encourage someone to spend so much time getting stoned that they stop doing anything and thus lose their job.
Confused?
