Q:Does anyone know if there is any oppressed people groups today in the world?
I need to do a report about a group of people that are being mistreated today in the world. Who are the people being oppressed? What is happening? Who is mistreating them? Why is this happening? Whats being done to help this problem?
A: Christians are by the rest of the world. Imagine if you will a young Caucasian boy kneeling in front of your high school in prayer with his hands clasped in front of him. He wouldn't last 5 min in most states before a teacher asked him to stop.
Now take an Asian kid sitting Indian style with his hands on his knees doing that OK symbol and he could stay there all day long praying to Buddha and no one would care.
It has become popular to hate Christians... why do you think that is?

Probably because nobody "prays to Buddha," since he's NOT A FUCKING GOD.
Moron.
Riddle me this, oh fundie fucktard:
What is it that not only acknowledges, but guarantees a student's right to pray peacefully and non-disruptively on school grounds...yet prohibits any teachers or other school personnel from leading students in prayer of any kind?
*BZZZT!* Time's up!
The answer is...the First Amendment of the United States Constitution!
Bottom line is: if you want to lead your Christian offspring in prayer, do it at home, or at your usual church, and leave the schools to those of us who give a damn about rational thought.
Why not kneel on a table in a restaurant where other people that you don't know are eating?
Man, are Christians oppressed.
The Asian kid, in your example, would be doing a form of meditation, not praying, you halfwit.
Actually, you are incorrect. Buddhists can pray without the "Buddha posture". Unlike Islam, where they have specific times that the very devout HAVE to pray, and are typically given a private area, thereby not disrupting anyone.
OH GOD, WHY WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE POOR WHITE CHRISTIAN CHILDREN?!
This guy's spiritual ancestors were fed to lions and tigers, dispatched by warriors in front of crowds of thousands, dipped in tar and set alight, crucified, tortured, you name it -- and yet the thought of some kid being told to get up and get his ass into class before the last bell or he's getting detention is exactly equal to all those horrors in this moron's spoiled rotten, first-world eyes.
And for the record, while I have never seen anyone in public school told to stop praying (and I grew up in an exceptionally religious state, according to the census) -- despite seeing many kids praying during my time there -- I am fairly certain that if some guy parked himself in front of the school in such a way that security decided he was disruptive, it wouldn't matter what his religion or race was, he'd be sent on his way.
...while I have never seen anyone in public school told to stop praying -- despite seeing many kids praying during my time there (I grew up in an exceptionally religious state, according to the census)--
THERE. I don't know how I managed to flip that around.
It has become popular to hate Christians... why do you think that is?
Because you're the majority, and your persecution complex requires that you think you're hated.
"It has become popular to hate Christians... why do you think that is?"
Because you're obnoxious twats who can't pray without a crowd watching you?
Because despite the fact that you've been told the opposite a trillion times you continue to insist that Buddha is a god?
Because you're just fucking stupid and it's fun to hate you?
"Q:Does anyone know if there is any oppressed people groups today in the world? "
1. Wherever there are fundies there are people being opressed.
2. Wherever there are fundies there are delusions of oppression.
When I was in high school, the Babtists and Panty-costals used to go 'round thumping on Muslim, Wiccan, and Atheist studednts with the tacit approval of the faculty. Maybe that's why it's become "popular to hate Christians".
You, here in the US, are not oppressed. Here in the US, YOU oppress people, not the other way around. So long as that kid wasn't supposed to be in class he would be allowed to pray as long as he cared to. If you so badly want to be oppressed, you need to move to a non-western country.
It has become "popular" to "hate" Christians because you claim that you have it so hard when you have the same freedoms [most of] the rest of us have here [actually, the way you guys have pushed it over time you have more freedoms than the rest of us] while at the same time you push for legislation against things that are not any of your business simply because you hate something based on an old book and "common sense".
Not only that, but in the U.S., at least, it's extremely rare to find Christian houses of worship anywhere. Oh, wait.
2 Tim. 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
ALL this silly talk of Christians being persecuted is just yet anohter failed Biblical prediction.
The fact that fundies appear to want persecution so much ,says a great deal about them.
Notice however that none of them ever risk going to places like Saudi Arabia where they might actually face real persecution if they were to be follow their God's commands to proselytise.
Yes, isn't it funny how when you're called on your lies, have your mistakes exposed, and get ridiculed for willful misunderstanding, you proclaim you are hated.
Yet your self-proclaimed love for your gay neighbours resembles hate far more than anything you ever get subjected to.
In Britain praying in schools is allowed, teachers can lead prayer, there are even state-funded faith schools. However, our society as a whole is considerably more secular than American society.
Perhaps the fundies should be careful what they wish for ;)
A: "Christians are by the rest of the world."
If by "rest of the world" you mean those voices in your head, I suppose you are correct.
"Imagine if you will a young Caucasian boy kneeling in front of your high school in prayer with his hands clasped in front of him. He wouldn't last 5 min in most states before a teacher asked him to stop."
That's because the teacher would be thinking, shouldn't a "young" boy be in class at his elementary school instead of on his knees in front of a high school? Unless it's a Catholic school, in which case the young boy would be on his knees doing something other than praying.
Also, would it be ok for a young black boy or white girl to pray, but not a Caucasian boy? That doesn't make sense.
"Now take an Asian kid sitting Indian style with his hands on his knees doing that OK symbol and he could stay there all day long praying to Buddha and no one would care."
Actually, yes, his teachers and the school administration would care. Their share of funding is dependent on the number of students who are, in, you know, class and all.
"It has become popular to hate Christians... why do you think that is?"
Because they write stupid shit like you did, and think they can justify anything they do by being told to do so by some non-existent being?
"It has become popular to hate Christians... why do you think that is?"
Translation: I'm pissed that people no longer give my beliefs automatic respect, and dare to disagree.
OH.....OH....PERSECUTE ME!!!......(fap, fap, fap, fap, fap)
Why would a Buddhist sit "Indian style". I haven't heard cross legged called "Indian Style" since I was a child (raised by racist parents).
It's called Lotus position or zazen. And specifically which buddha do we pray to? According to the Diamond Sutra there are 84 thousand billion buddhas. That's a lot of praying.
Oh no! OH NO! IT'S HORRIBLE!!!! CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED IN THE WORST WAYS!!! Forget about the Jews that died in gas chambers, starved and worked to death, used in medical experiments and were burned in ovens! Christians can't force their religion on everyone in this country which means they're being persecuted!!! THIS IS A HITLER REGIME!!!
There. Is that enough sympathy for you Pat Robertson?
Q:Does anyone know if there is any oppressed people groups today in the world?
Yes.
Tibetans are an oppresed people group.
Basques, Palestinians, Incas, Anu, and Biafrans are oppressed people groups.
Christians are NOT oppressed ANYWHERE on earth.
Pssst....(whispers) hey, your persecution complex is showing and it isn't pretty! Put it away, there are children here!
Translation: "Waaaah, I can't force my beliefs on others! I'm so persecuted by the wicked!!!"
Boo-freaking-hoo, cry me a river! I say this as a Christian myself...we are NOT persecuted, the atheists and people of other religions have rights and I'm fine with it. Disagreement =/= persecution...I grew out of the persecution mentality when I was in 1st grade! Grow the heck up already (you're probably older than me too)!
Confused?
